dy2light 28
Remember: she didn't make the album cover primarily to be pretty or attractive. She made it to represent her album and herself. Think about it: this album cover has so many different things going on, but it's the same way with the album itself. There's just so many different genres, and so many different aspects of Gaga that are explored. I think this might be an indication of what to expect from the album :)
SKANK 14,288
I don't really like it, at all. The reflection in the gazing ball is cool, and I like the sculpture. Maybe a minimalist photograph of the sculpture shot by Inez and Vinoodh would have been better. This just has way to much going on, and not in a good M.I.A **** the system way, just in a hot mess way. This isn't a strong image, it will quickly be forgotten like the music video for Applause. It isn't terrible, but it isn't half as bold and interesting as the cover for Born This Way. Nicki Minaj's perfume bottle + a gazing ball from your tacky neighbors lawn = ARTPOP cover But I'm not going to pretend to know more about art then Lady Gaga and Jeff Koons, maybe it's a great album cover, what do I know? Calm down Bob the Builder, I didn't compare Nicki Minaj's album covers to this cover, I said the Koons sculpture looks like her perfume bottle. And I was kidding, kind of. Marco 731
8 because the lettering bothers me so much how it's like broken up and the font is pretty boring.
Mills 446
The Jeff Koons' sculpture looks fantastic. And I like how they somehow included his signature, the gazing ball into this one. The background though appears to be overdone for me. But then again, as most have already pointed out, the cover is an indicator of ARTPOP's musical direction - which could be ambitiously all over the place. Catalystluna56 2
I'm actually starting to fall in love with the sculpture and the gazing ball. The letter I can actually see has a purpose now (sliced up goes along with art/pop metaphor) but the background continues to bug me. Still 8.5/10. Let's all agree this is 100x better than BTW
