htrllllsem 14
And then comes that awful, super dark, all over the place, poorly directed video. I can't stress how much I've been hating Gaga videos since The Fame Monster. And once again, I feel like they all "flop" because she's so full of herself and of her artistry that she doesn't want a PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR (NOT PHOTOGRAPHERS who are her friends and will say yes to anything she asks for without even thinking if it will work or not) to film it. She NEEDS help, she needs someone to translate her ideas in a comprehensible, relatable way and, most of all, to stop her and tell her "no, this won't work". I´m sorry, but i totally agree with this point. sometimes fans are totally blind and love everything she does
Optimus 298
She didn't put a gun to your head and I'm guessing no one made you. If you really get no happiness from being her fan as shown by the fact that ALL you do is complain, then what's the point? who said i got no happiness? get your **** together
Celina 118
I agree with what you're saying and it's definitely a more realistic view on things but most of the people here are up gaga's ass so even if she doesn't release something good, they'll still love it because it has the "lady gaga" branding on it Or maybe people just have differing opinions? :) I agree with you. Gaga needs to get her **** together and make actually good music and vides. The quality of her videos went down after Telephone. Only Judas was good. Her ego is too big. Also she has so many people around her supporting her for everything and sayng ''yes'' for everything. 1. Her ego is just fine. 2. How exactly do you know she has yes-men surrounding her? 3. Whether or not her videos are good is your OPINION. Besides, she should get to decide how to create and what's good enough to be released, because it's her own work. I understand she creates it for the fans, but she also creates it for herself. I think people are forgetting that. Can't you see that that adds up to my argument? She's so full of herself that she doesn't even want people to tell her no. You don't know what really happened that day. For all we know, Khan could have hated the entire idea of the video, and Gaga standing up to him could have been protecting her artistic integrity instead of being "full of herself." She has proven time and time again that she is humble. Ultimately, in this thread you aren't just criticizing her work; you're telling us what she "needs" to do, and claiming you know what's best for her career. Maybe you do know, but Gaga should do what SHE feels is best. Period. If you don't like it, fine. You don't have to like anything she does, but it's her artistic freedom to do what she wants with her work. And I will stand by that statement even if I can't stand the rest of the songs or videos from the album. Honestly, I'd lose more respect for her if I found out she started suppressing her own artistic vision and ideas just to please others, than if I didn't like what happened to be her own work. *I'm not trying to say she shouldn't keep the fans in mind btw Edited October 3, 2013 by Cellie
NotherClub365 105
Fans have the right to feel any type of way they want about Gaga, but when I keep seeing these endless reactionary, poorly thought out threads, it makes me a little ill. 1) You say she is egocentric, yet Gaga focused almost the entirety of the BTW era focusing on others, specifically the LGBT community, and she got **** for it. 2) Now she is focusing less on delivering a message to others and more on just the music, and people are now giving her **** for that. 3) You choose to say this era, where she has chosen to collaborate with 4 (or 5) of the most professional artists in the business, to say that she is high off of her own ideas and doesn't let others professionally execute them? Just...what?! Also...its one thing to not love the Applause video (It had to grow on me, but now I watch it multiple times a day, lol), but to question the competence of the directors is just silly, unless of course you are more credentialed in film than Inez and Vinoodh. And finally, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, stop judging things that she puts out based on whatever version of it that you dreamed up in your head. You thought the Applause video would be colorful and bright and happy? Good for you, just because Gaga is not clairvoyant enough to know exactly what you wanted from the video does not make it a flop. That part is YOUR FAULT. You created the expectations. She is here to put forth what she sees in her head, not yours. Its her career!! She needs to follow her own vision instead of listening to the fickle tastes of people who only care about which direction the wind is blowing in pop music. But, being realistic, we're all probably going to have to cringe through another 1,000 of these posts, and another 1,000 meltdowns about not liking the color of Gaga's shoes that day. Lips de Jolie 0
By the way, I am not claiming that a song that's more relatable is automatically better. All I'm saying is that she doesn't seem to realize that in order for one to have a hit song one has to at least somewhat relate to the song. Having clear vocals in the chorus would be a good idea as well. I wonder if Gaga has lost her ability to recognize (or even write) a hit song. Pure Adrenaline 1,518
I'm surpised this thread live for 17 pages and isn't even closed yet Why we have always to argue if Gaga's flopping or not. If her contemporaries are outselling her or not. If she's relevant or not. Why for once we can't just shut our b---hy mouths and enjoy the music that she's orffering this time, which btw it seems to be amazing. About the Applause video - The video is hot mess whether u like it or not. But that's cool about it. For me it's her best video since Telephone. And even more, I rank it as the #4 Best Gaga videos right behind Paparazzi, Telephone and BR. About the directors - Gaga's the one with the vision and the money. She decides if she wants to hire 'profesional' directors or let her friends to do it. And here it's not up to if in her team there are people that are saying 'no' or everyone is just licking their ass because in the end like I said she's the one with the vision and she decides what to do. We saw when Khan said 'no' and what happened. STOP THE DRAMA. START THE MUSIC. Stefani328 321
And what if I'm not really impressed with the musical output so far after 2 years of waiting? Nudity aside, I thought it was a simple and beautiful video visually shrug: But it's obvious lots of people disagree lol Are you even a fan? I've been here about two weeks and every comment I've seen of yours is negative. I understand everyone has an opinion. And I do think everyone she speak out about it, that is the whole point of an opinion, but every comment you ever post is negative. If you don't think the artist, what she does, who she works with, the type of music she does, the route she is going, why are you here?
Bad 32
I agree with a lot of what you said, and I've felt this way for a long time. I don't think Gaga's work is bad, but it has been lacking that polished finish ever since Born This Way. Gaga has great ideas but the Haus doesn't do a good job of translating them into music videos or performances. Professionals would help take her work from "good" to epic, like it was in TFM. I don't have any complaints about the music so far though. Applause is exactly the type of music I love from Gaga: weird yet fun and catchy.
SayCart 8
Applause music video was poorly directed? k bye this! I think its just fans focusing on the fact that a "proffesional" director didn't direct the video. This makes them believe to be its a poorly directed video when its not. Placebo effect at its finest!
Lips de Jolie 0
I hope Gaga gets to read some of this criticism. Though her next single will probably still be produced by DJWS and the music video will probably be shot by Tara and some Haus member who just graduated from art school.
