It really is too early to judge, but December seems like an interesting month to release an album. It seems like the biggest boosts come in late October and November. A December release didnt help Ke$ha very much Eh, I'm saying it's underperforming because I still don't know how long it'll stick in the Top 10 so I won't hold my breath on the song being a long-lasting/considerable hit. As far as Ke$ha is concerned. I think her and Britney are on two ENTIRELY different planes as far as selling albums is concerned. Britney's had in the last 12 years 4 of the 5 studio albums she releases come out in the fall, 3 exceeding 500K and one reaching 290K. It's a safe bet that she could at least scan 300K if all goes right [iTunes banner, no leak until perhaps 2-3 days before the album, and MAYBE a Target deal]. It is supposed to be something special that put you on stage. Why fans are applauding Britney and others when they are on stage if she cant sing / dance from what we know so far?
