Google Miley Cultural Appropriation for more. I think being black is an asset for Rihanna single-wise cause she gets crossover airplay in a way no white girl would with the same songs. Conversely, it hurts her album sales, cause the main market for pop is young white girls and many of them would rather invest in a white female like them as their idol. Albums sales - investing in an artist, not just a song. no no no no no. Rihanna's broad fanbase is what kept her relevant for all these years. Its genius that she makes urban/pop music because it vastly expands her fanbase. Her album sales are bad because she's become a lazy **** and released one every year with no promo basically. Its sloppy. Beyonce does the same thing and her album sales are great. Rihanna making urban music has nothing to do with her album sales. Gov Hooka 8,008 Posted October 15, 2013 Share Posted October 15, 2013 Unconditionally will slay radio for sure which also means that It will probably slay Hot 100 as well ... about the other songs I can't tell but Dark Horse is already slaying, they can chose between WOA and Birthday for an uptempo single (both are retro also) etc... they'll be OK.. We should worry about ARTPOP because the Case with Gaga is having a lot of great songs, and poor management while with Katy she may have 5 good and 10 bad songs (not saying she do, PRISM is really solid pop album, It's almost perfect) and she will have huge success because all these 5 good songs will be released etc...
