venus debut: 190k

ARTPOP debut: 400k

Very wrong. I mean... how the hell will Venus sell less than Applause? The promo will be very big .

Will unconditionall cock block gaga?

I don't think it will cock block it during the first week. But then it will be up to which song is better

well applause was her LEAD single, her big comeback after 2+ years and it sold 218k.

We don't know whether the promo for venus will be huge or not, so i reckon that it's pretty hard to beat applause's first week sales.

We will see tho, i live for the unexpected tbh.

no

you better deal with it hun, it's so gonna happen.

Just give it up guys, Katy will get all the attention. Gaga just has to coast this era, and her next one will be bigger.

We don't know what promo she has though. Radio interviews? Performance? I think 150-200k for Venus is a reasonable prediction. Applause had way more hype and it was her 'comeback' single. Unless Venus gets promo first week (which is unlikely: Interscope wants to ensure longetivity) we won't see it outselling Applause's first-week sales.

Guys, I think she'll release the video for Venus in the release week of ARTPOP. That week she'll have a low amount of sales for Venus thanks to 'Complete My Album' and the streaming points could make up for a large part of the sales. Next to that, the Airplay should be higher by then which will help boost album sales and she'll possibly do huge promo.

I have a feeling Venus will outshine Katy's second single.

Let's hope so  :reductive:

Katy isn't getting the attention, Miley is. Katy's just getting the sales and airplay for some reason (probably because Katy is a big pop star releasing a good, generic, relatable and hyped single with great promo, planning and reception).

the video should be released when the sales is high (with promo) and airplay is moderate so that the song can peak higher

LoL at some of you here and on Atrl saying that Applause had huge hype around it and it was her comeback single. There was not a lot of hype outside this fanbase and  even most of that hype was lost when the somg leaked and was released before it's original date...

Problem is, thanks to Complete My Album Venus will probably only have about 50-100k sales in the release week of ARTPOP and that's when she needs the Top 10 exposure so that's a good reason to release the video that week for more streams. Remember that singles are to promote an album and albums are to promote the tour, so in the best case the single would peak in the week of the album release and keep getting strong airplay for album longetivity.

Honestly. Interscope should change Track 2 on ARTPOP to 'Venus - released on October 27' at iTunes to make it a little bit more anticipated. I don't feel like anybody outside of the stanbase actually knows about Venus because of Twitter announcement during European/East-US night time.

Guys, you have to realize that Unconditionally is a big threat. Basically every critic from the listening party praised the track and Billboard called it a 'future #1 on lock'.
