Gerrard174 699
oh ya and the thanksgiving gaga special. it was so perfect. MTN at the end was good, but her team was stupid to not include it on TV. only a part with credit. thats very stupid. should have cut hair or orange coloured sky and gave MTN the promo it needed. that performance was great. simple elegant and amazing
justalovegame 0
But as MANY people have voiced on MULTIPLE accounts, Applause was released to no momentum and virtually no hype outside of stan bases. People are under the impression that a lead single will do well merely because it's a lead single and I have to just say that's really oversimplified. Songs perform in accordance to how well they click with the GP and how much exposure they get. Applause hasn't had much exposure because Gaga hasn't had much exposure. Don't compare everything to Bad Romance or BTW. We're all aware of how radio treated Applause in the beginning. Also, plenty of singles have proved to sell extremely well beyond album release even though the album has sold well, so I don't believe that. Where did Roar's hype come from then? I get that GaGa had presumably less hype than BTW but it still sold far less its debut week than we all initally expected. Venus needs to outdo it in order for the "no hype" to apply to Applause's situation. (Then again, is there even hype for Venus outside the stanbase ?) Stefani 25
Sorry, but I think the fashion during pretty much all of BTW was terrible. TFM fashion was >>>>>>>> x1000. Although she made up during Yuyi and MTN eras. Her fashion was spot on once again. Especially during MTN. I loved loved loved those outfits. It's a shame it was at the end of the era when no one cared anymore lol Well thats ur opinion and that is mine.
Gov Hooka 8,008
That's also what I love about Gaga. No other pop artist can have/create so much subjectivity about their art. She is not bland at all unlike a couple of others... We'll just have to wait and see for Venus. I have this feeling in me that it is going to be a PF sized hit. chris777 112
http://kworb.net/cc/ this kworb section isn't that wrong, right? last time he predicted 110k-113k and actually sold 109k
Gerrard174 699
i hope applause sells at least 100k this week it probably wont chart on top10 digital song this week due to debut of heartbreaker, Surivival and Adore you (did it sell much?) and the fox passed her on digital song. HG sold about the same

Still, it showed GaGa's name isn't as powerful in singles as we thought. Berzerk sold 370K in its first week and it had horrible radio and even promo the first week whereas Applause needed the VMAs boost. Venus doing more than 218K would show an increased interest from the public, which is hopefully the case in 2 weeks. That Kworb section is usually right btw but sales are slow at this time of year. You are right, But personally I prefer the longlevity of Applause than frontloaded sales of Berzerk which in the third week was under top 10.

Eminem has a totally different demographic by the way. We can't compare rap singles to pop singles unless they have pop appeal like Holy Grail. And if we want to go in that direction Holy Grail was a lead single too, but is selling comparable to Applause with much more airplay. Diamonds was a lead single too, but for a while it seemed like she wasn't gonna hit 3x plat (this coming off of hugely successful WFL). Die Young was a lead single too, but apparently only sold 2.7m? Do we even want to get into Suit and Tie? We Can't Stop doesn't have what we'd expect to be sales from a lead single, but supposedly she's the new it girl now. Blow Me was a lead but is but is barely 2x plat. Does anyone ever question or heckle Pink? None of these accomplishments are anything to be ashamed of, yet hold a different standard for Gaga. Would we call Die Young a flop if it was under Gaga's name... simply because it's a lead single? All we ever do is compare her to Katy Perry, but let's widen the perspective a little. Gaga is not the queen of pop. She's a musician and her music sells like anyone else's.
Pure Adrenaline 1,518
they will probably release 4 singles only this time since the only 5th single they released flopped. #1 Applause #2 Venus #3 Gypsy #4 MANiCURE/ GUY watch aura and s-xxx dreams never being a single. craig 680
The only way Venus will be anywhere near a PF sized hit is if she gets people excited about her again. Yet if they get excited about HER rather than the song, why not just buy the album?
