Luc 4,775
Not really. Applause did great in Spain/Sweden/Germany/Brazil/Canada/Japan.. Just because it didn't do good in a few countries doesn't mean it killed her entire WW standing. What kinda messy assumption Hype. I haven't heard anything outside of the stan-world about the 2nd single, the album cover, the tracklist, etc, no newspapers, newssites, friends who stan for every pop girl (besides Britney ). It's not about how well Applause did, but I don't think many people know about Venus like they did about Applause.

And she got many fans back with Applause which will result in better sales for venus

Magoo 6
Its like impossible to go #1 first week these days. Lets not be ridiculous. I thought Gaga fans would learn from Applause, but I guess not lol I agree it's pretty much impossible to get Hot 100 #1 debut nowadays. In that case there's no point trying for it, and it is makes more sense to ensure at least a good itunes position to get the song off to the best start. Although releasing a song to itunes on a Sunday will not make for great first week digital sales, it will nonetheless give it a start and some modest position on the Hot 100 will justify radio adds the following week. Even songs released on Monday generally get a low Hot 100 debut because of the radio play that is credited to the prior week. The other point is that the Hot 100 is a toy that Billboard plays with and I can't see why an artist should be dragged along by that in deciding when to release a song. The most important thing is that the public gets to buy the song and/or the album, most of the public don't even look at the weekly charts.
Luc 4,775
I've heard about the album cover and track list everywhere And Venus in some places too... I was talking about WorldWide though. But guys, you don't build much momentum with the GP besides radio picking up on a song faster. Look at how Telephone debuted and look at Bad Romance's slayage. Gaga has a fanbase and first-week sales are just from the fanbase and in some cases (Roar, BTW, etc) the GP too.
