Jesse Pinkman 4,660
She took 'chances' by releasing 'Judas' and 'Marry the Night' and those caused meltdowns in here for at least 2 years. .... and you just proved my point :P It's science, bitch
Klou 2,414
Yeah it's literally the perfect promo single. Sales are pushed by controversy and word of mouth, and Burqa will more than likely have this on its side. And being connected to Machete Kills, plus with the album cover (and probably tracklist) release, I wouldn't be surprised if it outsold Applause's first week sales. The fact people have been talking about the song and have heard it since (June?) has created a lot of anticipation for it. The same thing happened to You & I, which is why it went top 10 the week BTW came out.
TEANUS 15,899
We need to remember to stream the lyric video and the audio if they release one. It will help her chart position and could get her into top 10. Or at least just miss it. Like 7 million streams for each video is 14 million streams for billboard, :) British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
Klou 2,414
Honestly, it all boils down to the fanbase being scarred over Judas & the BTW era overall. People are scared of her releasing controversial songs because of that traumatic experience. I honestly think Aura wouldn't do that bad, it has a catchy chorus & it deals with s-x. If the fact that burqa is such a big deal, the worse that'll happen is it getting bleeped. Its 1000x better than a song about Jesus, demons & ear condoms.. You summed up how I feel about the controversy perfectly
Mills 446
Promo singles aren't that damaging anyway. Aside from creating buzz for both Machete Kills and ARTPOP, it could serve as a market tester. If it hits like TEOG, then I'd have no problem for it to be released as an official single afterwards (since it's also one of my earlier favourites along with Sex Dreams). As long as it's accompanied with heavy promotion, it would do well.

It creates more buzz, and word of mouth, that will get people checking it out. Just glad she's releasing SOMETHING, and not letting that awesome album cover/movie promo slip away. We need to remember to stream the lyric video and the audio if they release one. It will help her chart position and could get her into top 10. Or at least just miss it. Like 7 million streams for each video is 14 million streams for billboard, :) A song like Burqa isn't made for radio, but it is made for streaming and digital sales, because it's a song people will be curious to check out. And like Klou said, people have been talking about it for a long time, even before it leaked. The leak alone has already racked up a ton of YT views. I think these two things combined could give Gaga another Top 10 hit.
Mills 446
And the lyrics of Aura isn't that controversial-seeking anyway, compared to Judas.
Ozzy8923 9
WAIT 23 peaked at #11? That song barely had any airplay or even that many sales, it was all streaming. Does that mean Work B has a chance at Top 10? It has more sales than 23 probably scanned and definitely more airplay, and a considerable amount of streams when you factor in Spotify, YT, & VEVO. Gerrard174 699
I think 'Aura' is okay, but it just WON'T fit the radios and it will be totally ignored. I'm not saying she must absolutly release the most generic crap song all the time to be played everywhere ... but it's fine when she can get radio support while having her own sound (See 'Applause') She took 'chances' by releasing 'Judas' and 'Marry the Night' and those caused meltdowns in here for at least 2 years. ***and just to be clear, I think releasing 'Aura' as a promo single is amazing :) I just dont want it to be the full second single to some extent i agree that Aura should not be the second single for these reasons: 1) Radio just got back on her side, don't waste this opportunity, put out a friendly yet gaga single 2) GP are starting to get back to her, give something more relatable Having said so, i have no problem with Aura being second single because personally i love it, and i think it is a good mix of riskiness and radio-friendliness. The chorus is instant love, the verses might be a bit annoying, but let see how the song performs on itunes first. i bet interscope is releasing the song to test the water

Gaga said the next single will be very "Gaga," which makes me sure it won't be Aura anyways. But I think it's a good thing that Interscope is releasing it in this way to test the waters, because it's definitely a song that could go either way. Work Bitch is definitely vying to enter top 10 with the streaming this week. Applause might sell as much as work Bitch (or even more). Applause has airplay advantage, but WBitch has the huge streaming. Streaming will be the decisive factor, so let's just help applause out
Freddy 4,421
I just saw the radio update for today (20 hours late T_T ) Applause is still gaining alot, and it will surpass 'Just Dance' tommorow morning. I just hope it will still steadily gain while 'Aura' will be released next week. That would be perfect.
