People are only saying they love it cuz its Gaga. Come on. Y'all wouldn't ''love it'' if it wasn't her.

Yes, you're right. But that is only because Gaga is a unique artist and thought provoking pioneer. If other artists did this, they could not pull it off. And that is the very reason I like Gaga in the first place--so yes I DO love this picture, not because its Gaga, but because Gaga IS this photo.  :legend:

She was far way more artistic in her previous eras when she was not trying so hard... now it is not artistic at all... I don´t really understand why this is happening. She needs to stop with this nonsense thinking it´s "art". At the end of the day art is so much more than just randomly selecting weird looks and putting them against an unexpected context. She just looks like a fool.... reminds me of that pic in V where she is opening her leg and all most showing her lady parts... she needs to stop trying so hard.

Art is subjective to the eye and what you may not see as art can be seen as art by another. Art is supposed to make you talk, question, and try to understand it. That's what this photo is doing. You are questioning, talking, and attempting to get the roots of it. By the way she looked incredible in the V shoot, shame on you for trying to put her down when she was finally accepting her body.

I think that is very interesting what this image has caused. And I really love it, both the picture, and the reactions.

Because that was the idea behind it: to make us question beauty, art, and particularly: female artists, and their role in our society.

One could think that an entertainer is supposed to entertain, a singer to sing, and an artist to make art. Well, that is true, for males. For females, they are expected to be, above all things, pretty.

In our society, it doesn't matter that much if an entertainer is not amusing, if a singer has no voice, or an artist has no talent, as long as she's beautiful.

Lady Gaga was criticized for being "too fat" for a popstar.

Lady Gaga was criticized for losing weight and getting naked, because some people claimed she couldn't speak of self acceptance, and look s-xy at the same time, saying she was a "hypocrite".

Lady Gaga now covers HER ENTIRE BODY, and she's criticized for looking "unattractive", and "ugly".

See the coincidences? can you see the point of connection? . It's all about her body.

It's all about her image. Not her voice, not her creativity, not her talent, or her skills as a performer, nope.

As a woman, Lady Gaga is only judged by her looks. The media, and society in general, are basically telling her: "be obedient, fit our criteria, and we'll treat you right, dare to take a footstep out of our path, and we'll slaughter you".

A person with fear, a person who feels insecure is easier to control. The media manipulates women though their looks, fueling their insecurities.

By looking "ugly" in her photoshoots, Lady Gaga is clearly stating: "Say what you want about my image, you won't control me, I rule my body, and no one else". She probably knows the image isn't "flattering", and I think that's EXACTLY how she wanted it to be.

Why on earth should her promo pics be "pretty"? she's an artist, not a supermodel, and she plays her own game, with her own rules.

She won't let the media bully her because of her weight, her hair, o her clothes.

What if she was really as fat as her outfit suggests? would that make her less talented? will her songs be less catchy? I don't think so ;) .

Of course that's my personal interpretation, but I think it's a really meaningful, deep photograph.

There's no need to disrespect other people's opinions, some of us loved it, some hated it, it shouldn't be that much of a deal anyways, we can all share our thoughts respectfully :) .

PS: Haunt and Pop, you guys nailed it!!! I totally agree with everything you wrote.

It is completely fine you have your own opinion. But to me she makes this "onesie" so interesting and crazy.

Also, she is no fool. Look how much we are all talking about it ;)

Loving the picture, everything fascinates me. It's interesting that you all don't like it, I think that's because she doesn't look attractive in it. People have a hard time dealing with stuff when it's not "beautiful" in the media-perpetuated sense of the word. When she was naked on the chair giving body with natural hair, everybody lived for it. Now, this is the exact same person, looking different and everybody's reaction is harsh as f*ck. Truthfully, this is why I love Gaga and I think that's what really sets herself from any other popstar. She's not afraid to look "ugly", to not look her best, to challange our views on beauty.

I think that's the problem some monsters and the GP have with the Born This Way era, tbh. She didn't look "attractive". Remember when she schooled that interviewer recently because he was talking about her ass at the VMAs? Saying that is was funny that people were only noticing her features now that she had natural hair/make-up and minimal fashion.

I think people need to deal with a different kind of fashion. Fashion doesn't need to be luxurious fabrics that cinches the waist and follow a woman's body. In my perspective, fashion (and art) is about creating a moment, an image, a story. Something that comes and grabs you in, that provokes a reaction. I like that some draw parallels with the BTW cover because that's exactly the same situation. We have a hard time accepting something we don't understand and don't find beautiful. The only problem I have with the picture are the shoes though, wedges are like flip-flops to me. But it works pretty well in creating a look that challenges our understanding of fashion and beauty but still looks put together, from head to toe. NO RULES on ARTPOP, right?

So yeah, it is my favorite ARTPOP picture so far. It is SO interesting, you sense that there is a story behind, a full concept that is ready to come out. There is so much depth. The face and hair are SO strong, it looks like a cultural signature. Like she's part of a tribe of white dreaded, icy eyed creatures. And that is SO HARD to create. She already did that kind of instantly iconic/recognizable look with the BTW prosthetics and it was brilliant.

She looks ready to get dirty for her art. Like a technician ready to roll on paint and jump on a canvas. I like the wires coming out of her head too, like a robot loading in informations before being ready to function. Like a canvas meeting technology. A traditional form of art collaborating with an underground movement. An artist in the process of creating, in that gazing moment of deep searching.

I don't know, you could read so many things... she truly is everything.

Anyway, the picture is striking, therefore it is successful. Goodbye.

Seriously the best post on gagadaily ever

oh for sure!! Haha. It got us talking. Same thing with the Miley thing. People were calling her dumb and saying she's going down hill. It's all publicity/to get people talking. That's part if the business these stars are in.
