It's legal for police officers in almost every country to use tasers, they are a non-leathel effective weapon for apprehending people. The problem comes when police officers use them on people with mental health issues/d--g addiction issues...those people are far more likely to die from the use of a taser then a normal person. Police are allowed to use tasers in France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ierland, Sweden, Poland, and The UK. That took about two seconds to google, I'm sure there are more countries where police are allowed to carry and use tasers..but if it helps you sleep at night to think tasers are an American thing, go for it.
