If you want her to continue making grand commercial pop music her way she needs to also be successful on a grand scale. you really don't have to be psychic to be able to tell that MANiCURE would not fare well to todays top 40 listening audience. It's not holier than thou to say we should focus on enjoying the music more than her charting. Gaga herself has been trying to get that message through. However MANiCURE reminds me of Hair, its cheesey and I don't think it will appeal to a broad audience. Besides, Applause utilized a similar stomp track. I cannot relate to the first verse in MANiCURE at all. I am not a cross dresser. I will be sorely disappointed if it is made a single, and like others have said, it reminds me of Hair, which is my least favorite track off of Born This Way tbh. Adele approves.... Her diamond-selling "21" album says hello. Plus, the song is so much fun and the lyrics are not pretentious at all, which is one reason I think "Applause" is not connecting so much with the GP. Maybe not the second single, but it's definitely very catchy and would sound good on radio. It's probably the safest track we've heard so far. It's a song about wet dreams and masturbation. Instant flop. Now don't get me wrong... I love the song. A lot, actually. But some songs are not meant to be singles. Just as Heavy Metal Lover (one of my favorites from BTW) would have never made it as a single. The world isn't quite ready for that **** yet. I mean, ****. Applause we being censored on many radio stations at first for crying out loud. You think Sex Dreams wouldn't? Swine is radio gold! It's fun and super dancey. Even after hearing only right half the album, it's clear that there's plenty of great material on ARTPOP and if her second single didn't smash, there are still lots of other options for future singles. It would be strange, yet ultra-catchy, addictive and infectious. Just like Bad Romance shocked, amazed, and impacted the world, so could Swine IMO.
