People focus less on the music and focus more on how the music's doing; how it's faring from a numbers perspective, from a financial perspective. And there she says it and some of you in this thread still judge her or care more about the charts, how sad #1s are overrated, or will any of you dare to say that Tik Tok is better than Bad Romance? Gaga will EARN those #1s with time, when she actually deserves them, with her talent, not just going musically generic and easy to be just catchy music Are you really that needy for attention that you need to brag on facebook "ZOMG MAH IDOL IS #1, EVERY1 ELSE IS FLOP!"? Applause will die out in a couple weeks, these songs actually had GREAT longevity. Bad Romance was number one all over the world, except the US. Alejandro and Paparazzi were the LAST singles off two hugely successful albums. Applause is the lead single, and after two weeks, it's struggling to stay in top 5. The song showed better longetivity than most singles of BTW. What are you trying to say? and Applause definitely isnt the weakest single. With that said, she's clearly bothered by the way things are going. The only thing that bothers me is that she seems to lumps all criticism into the same category, and perceives all of it as a being a desire to write her off. Rather than taking a minute to even consider that Applause shouldn't have been the first single, or that maybe people genuinely aren't feeling it, she instead masks that possibility with this narrative that it's due to society wanting to see her fail, when the reality is that this extreme sentiment is confined to a few forums on the internet. Regular people don't think about this at all, they just want good music, that's it. The irony is that if she does fail, or under-perform, or whatever, it's solely due to her and her team being to dense to consider that maybe, just maybe, some of the critics raise valid points. You don't have a number 4 single when you are over. Rihanna has number one hits so, but also has singles who are number 12, 14, 34 etcetera and she's still a big name. So people please... Stop the drama. this! i guess im missing something because last i checked being number 4 was still good, and its a hit. it increased for ****s sake! and btw i dont rememer bad romance ever getting to no1. maybe my memory is wrong?? i cant with critics anymore.im done.
