StrawberryBlond 14,294
Proving she is indeed Only Human, Cheryl's fourth album, which bears that title, falls well short of the opening week's position and sales of all its predecessors, despite the fact that it is the first of the former Girls Aloud star's solo albums to generate two number one singles. Selling just 21,839 copies last week, Only Human debuts at number seven. Her first solo album, Three Words, sold 125,271 copies when it debuted at number one in 2009. Exactly a year later, follow-up Messy Little Raindrops also debuted at number one, on sales of 105,431 copies. She fell short of the hat trick when A Million Lights debuted and peaked at number two, attracting first week sales of 34,934 in 2012. I think this just goes to prove how flawed the pre-order system is. Holding a single back for 2 months will obviously stockpile sales which will be unleashed in just one week, but it will be difficult to gauge from that impressive number just how much actual demand there is for a follow up single and most importantly, an album. But having more than one single on pre-order and thus, getting 2 #1's with good sales, is only going to make the artist look bad when their album gets released and flops miserably. It shows up the pre-order system and the artist's entire PR and hype. Hit singles don't mean anything if you can't sell the albums they're on. Jessie J debuted at #5 with similar figures a few weeks ago and she also had a #1 lead single as a result of a pre-order. And just like Jessie, Cheryl could go from playing arenas to playing O2 academies in the blink of an eye. It's weird to think she sold a million with her debut but fell sharply after that. It just goes to show what amazing hype can do. From 2009-2010, people really bought into the whole "Cheryl is a star" thing. I think she should be a case study for people who want to work in PR. craig 680
Cheryl's career is an extension of Girls Aloud, and together they have released 11 albums in 12 years (including 2 GA hits era). I guess fatigue sets in. Girls Aloud produced pop masterpieces 2004-2007, but Cheryl can't match that without Xenomania. Ellie Goulding and Adele may be the only UK based females with 2 straight platinum albums, after Kylie and GA/Cheryl had their long-running streaks snapped. Jase 13,081
Yeah they've cancelled the release, probs because it was doing awfully on pre-orders. Horrid song so I'm not surprised Cheryl's album down to #26 in the mids, good lord
StrawberryBlond 14,294
Cheryl's album down to #26 in the mids, good lord  Considering she's a permanent fixture in the UK right now and it's coming up to Christmas, that is really shocking. Even C2C didn't fall that low in its second week and it had no hit singles and zero promo at that point, despite debuting with lower numbers and chart position and it being 3 months away from Christmas. I can't even imagine what this will mean for Cheryl's physical sales. As she appeals so much to the youth demographic, the majority of them will download her work, meaning there'll be thousands of physical copies in record shops and supermarkets all over the country going to waste. I'd like to know how many copies its shipped because no doubt her label had high hopes for this album because her comeback campaign was doing so well, she was getting heavy promo and her return to XF would mean a return to the glory days when she could go platinum with ease. So, I wouldn't be surprised if it has shipped platinum. But by the looks of things, it's going to go the same way of Tulisa's solo album. I dread to think of all the losses that album cost her label because physical copies in particular were impossible to shift, resulting in cringey 3 for £5 deals in HMV. What happens to all these physical copies that don't sell? Is it like books getting pulped, only in plastic equivalent? It's a question I sometimes ponder these days what with record shops going out of business and artists underperforming.

SomethingMore 1,701
I certainly don't have to write an essay to prove a certain member's obsession with Cheryl But I will write an "essay" on something else : Just by scrolling down I noticed that the single's pre-order is mentioned AGAIN. And how that's the reason she got the #1. I will repeat this for the 4th time in this thread, I Don't Care pre orders were TERRIBLE , it got a boost from having an iTunes banner (new releases section), reached #1, and than later The X Factor helped to mantain that #1. Here is the daily progress of the total sales : Tuesday 1 Cheryl - I Don't Care (24.6k) * Wednesday 1 Cheryl - I Don't Care (49.2k) * Thursday 1 Cheryl - I Don't Care (57.4k)* Friday 1 Cheryl - I Don't Care (64.3k)* Sunday 1 Cheryl - I Don't Care (82.4k)* As you can see it didn't get the #1 thanks to pre-orders as the sales were growing steadily every day.The single didn't free fall in its 2nd week, went down to #4, but it was 1k away from #3 selling 47,787 copies. The 2nd week drop was much better than Crazy,Stupid Love's. This week she is still top 10 on Spotify, #12 combined on iTunes due to many new entries (the most top 40 entries this year). It's doing good, she deserved the #1. I don't know why I am even bothering......obsessed, full of hatred people will still continue to post about them being right and me "wanting to force them to say my opinion is right". Also for the whoknowswhat time, this is not a ****ing opionion ! It's a FACT. The numbers are right here ! The same numbers I posted already a few pages back. If you have a problem with the pre-order system (and you said you do) than write in general, stop mentioning Cheryl !
