Looks like Lily's getting that #1, then? Damn John Lewis. I didn't mind last year when it was an artist that actually needed promo because they were new but Lily doesn't need promo as her comeback should be enough to make her do reasonably well. I have similar sentiments towards other currently successful acts being picked for the official Comic Relief and Children In Need singles (1D and Ellie Goulding). I'd rather Gaga never released an album near the Christmas season again. The UK love their charity singles (Do They Know It's Christmas?, The Children In Need Medley), novelty singles (Teletubbies Say Eh-Oh, Can We Fix It?), X Factor singles (Hallelujah, Impossible), "songs on an advert" singles (The Power Of Love, Somewhere Only We Know) and "one off/not real artists" singles (Wherever You Are) around this time.

The tide is turning. Oh, yes, the tide is turning. It looks like Katy's finally realising what it's like to release a single that the public just aren't feeling. Lord knows Gaga had to whether those storms several times with BTW. But then again, this has always been the way with Katy. She has yet to have a UK #1 that isn't a lead single. I Kissed A Girl, California Gurls, Part Of Me and Roar all went to #1 but they were all leads. At least Gaga has had sophomore singles get to the top here. It's safe to say that once Katy's album gets released, public interest in her singles suddenly goes right down, which is why I'm surprised she released after just one single. She's still below Gaga on US itunes too which is extremely surprising considering Gaga's video hasn't been released yet. Katy appears to be suffering from a term someone here once coined: "Judas Syndrome" - the name given to the situation when an artist has a mega successful lead single and follows it up with a dud single that the public don't really get and it causes the entire album to lose momentum. It happens to the most successful of artists. Gaga had it with Judas, Rihanna had it with You Da One, Nicki Minaj had it with Right By My Side, Kesha had it with C'mon. Katy is the only pop artist yet to suffer from it, but Unconditionally looks like it could be her turn at long last.

Made better by that fact that Capital FM are playing Unconditionally ALL THE TIME (as well as her past catalogue non stop) and even with a video it's doing **** all

Even MORE One Direction crap cluttering up itunes. Minus the single, they've got three other songs above Gaga, so she SHOULD be #12 right now.

Oh, and it's not like it matters that KP is falling. If rumors are true and she performs on the XF final, it'll turn into a monster hit

Never thought Katy's era would flop after the second single :smh: Born This Way made it to 3 singles in the top 10, Prism just did 1 :awkney:
