in the words of lady gaga, it is european - that means not german, but all of europe. it has the same connotations in every european country. when you call someone a swine in english, it means the same thing as schweine in german or any other european country. therefore, per lady gaga, she's making a european reference. which is the same reference as used in the uk or wherever else that uses swine or pig as an insult. i really do not see why this is difficult, but i'll leave it with you. the song is called swine.

Ughhhhh. Why is it so hard for you to understand?

If it's true what you're saying, Swine would be one of the worst things to say in the UK. Is that true? NO IT ISN'T. NOW STOP REPLYING, IT'S A REFERENCE TO GERMANY. DEAL WITH IT.

Yeah! Hi! :)

Exactly. Everyone knows what ARTPOP could mean

:derpga:

If she'll call a song 'Swine, she'll call one 'Mary Jane Holland' :/

Weasel

I thought it was some fancy word like wine or divine :whitney: so I googled it and came to the conclusion that it's a pig :blehga:

sure, it's a really horrible thing to say in english. it means you're the lowest of the low, you're filth! not going to say it's the most common of insults, but it is horrible and it is used and it is the name of this gaga song. that's all i'm saying. i don't agree that this is a strictly german reference, dat's about it.

yeah, i think it might have something more to do with the music though. seems highly unlikely "swine" is influenced by anything german since the word is 100% a common english word. she also said the fame monster was inspired by german dance music and i think it would be a bit of a stretch to say the word "monster" was german inspired even though it's the same in german... swine is even further from german since it's english. it's just a coincidence that it sounds familiar in german : )

Monster is an universal word. Swine/schwein isnt. Swine/schwein is clearly germanic. Edit:i'm wrong with this.

But i agree with the rest.

Edit: schwein is a common in german speaking countries and i agree with luc with the connaction to german speaking countries.

Do you think this song (if this is really true) will be abot Mr. Hilton or/and other friends who have betrayed her? I thought she said it's the best to ignore him and the other haters? Hhmm. I don't think he's worth a song from her tbh (or any other one, like Jennifer O'Neill, Rob Fusari etc. ...). That would make the exaclty opposite of what she said and it wouldn't help at all. :(

Swine is definitely used in the UK. Not very common for street talk, but if you were running for MP up against a competing politician and you only used honest tactics while they used dirty tactics, a smear campaign, and all sorts of underhanded tricks against you then you would say 'You SWINE!'.

It's definitely more common than calling someone a horse, hehe ;)

(excluding Leona Lewis and SJP)

In german you say: du schwein! (You pig) if you do something dirty things like farting or worse things.
