shane_c 480
^ Are you accounting for the fact that huge portions of the album sales on HDD come from physical and not digital? No, but the itunes chart is a pretty big sample so I doubt CDs could make that big a difference. It probably will help ARTPOP some though because she has more hardcore fans. Lady 748
Perry's next promo single is coming next Monday if I'm not mistaken, so she's definitely going to pass ARTPOP in sales, but the moment Gaga starts her promo for ARTPOP, I'm sure she's going to be the more successful one again

As I pointed out in my last post, physical sales still make up a majority of album sales.
shane_c 480
It's in demand because it had a new promo single and one of the main iTunes banners. http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2013/01/23/digital-stores-beat-mass-merchants-in-album-sales/1843627/ "Last year, 193 million CDs were sold vs. 118 million digital albums, according to Nielsen SoundScan's year-end data report. While album sales at digital services outpaced those at mass merchants, they were far exceeded by the combined sales of physical albums at all outlets." Physical sales still outpace digital sales when it comes to albums. Ok, thats encouraging. But I doubt there will be a huge difference between what an album slells in digital compared to CDs. If it sells a lot in digital it will a lot as a CD as well. imo

I dont see why there would be that much of a difference. Why would Prism outsell ARTPOP in digital but then not as a CD?

I dont see why there would be that much of a difference. Why would Prism outsell ARTPOP in digital but then not as a CD? But what you're trying to do is calculate sales for PRISM this week based on how much HDD is reporting the top 10 albums sold this week, which is not an accurate comparison. Having a album go top 10 on iTunes for a week is not going to equal a huge boost in sales. The album pre-orders jump was very much connected to iTunes given that she released a new promo single and got an iTunes banner. It's not logical to assume that her physical CD pre-orders had the same huge jump that the iTunes pre-orders did.

I guess well have to wait to see what HDD says. They said they were going to update preorders. Im curious to see what they are.

Physical sales still outpace digital sales when it comes to albums. That's useful to know, so about 40% of album sales are digital So if you have two albums at a similar position on itunes but one is fully released with a CD and the other is a preorder (digital only), and if you know the sales of the fully released one from HDD, then the preorder sales of the other will be that x 40%.
