For some reason, they personally chose the song about Jeff Koons, Fame IV and nostalgia geeks as the lead single from the album (DON'T GET ME WRONG - I LOVE THE SONG!). After initial difficulties, APPLAUSE seems to be doing OK on the radio, and enjoys moderate but stable rise on her home radio format TOP 40. So they should give it a full go, squeeze all the juice out of the song, wait and see. Once the song reaches its radio peak - and we can only predict when it happens, no one knows for sure - they can think of the further actions. The song might be still strong on the radio in the mid October, and hyping the 2nd single while APPLAUSE still has some heavy rotation would be stupid and unprofessional. In fact, any successful song is still strong on the radio even when it falling: take a look at the BLURRED LINES. That record will need at least a month to get away from the radio waves. If APPLAUSE both, reaches its peak and will be falling for some time around late October, then and only then the talks of sending the new song to the radio must be taken seriously. Longevity is what we're aiming with this record, so no hurry. I both agree and disagree with you. Firstly I meant exactly that, that they should wait 2-3 weeks to see how Applause will be doing then, And then decide what to do, Rush release/ hyping and then releasing or even waiting more. Secondly they need something before the album is released, so they surely won't wait for Applause to fall on radio They'll probably only wait for It to reach Its peak .. No It's not necessarily, but right now the competition is too big... actually It has never been bigger If I am not mistaken ... Miley is releasing early so It won't really affect ARTPOP Katy is releasing the end of October tho Eminem is releasing early November then ARTPOP and then One Direction right after ARTPOP ... Too much competition .. she not only need 2nd single, but she need It to be bigger than Applause ... and It's only natural to have a 2nd single October because they can't wait until 2014 and November/December is too late .. Born This Way was my most listened Gaga song until Applause came up ! I just love the chorus and the Warhol lyrics, it's fresh and it sounds incredible on the radio !
