I'm sorry, but all this "Applause is not a hit" talk is just irrational.
If she would have kept freefalling after the music video out of the Top 10 and if she wouldn't have even made it past 50 A.I and was already dropped from radio then we'd be talking.

well hits aren't subjective.

It'll probably reach 2M by the time its tumbling on radio.

The fact that it's still selling consistently and rising CURRENTLY makes it a hit.

Yeah let's call Applause a hit when it has 10 A.I and is selling 40k a week and makes it to 2xPlatinum....

I got what you mean, and I understand but I was talking about a whole different situation.. I was talking about Impact which BTW had plenty of,  not about a simple hit . . .  and again  LoveGame and ALejandro will end up being bigger hits than Applause which is horrible ..

I just meant to say that they should leave the song alone and then release Sex Dreams or whatever they believe will be a hit, and they should Make It a hit  with the right promo, video, etc...  they already tried with applause.. I think the promo It got was more than enough ... I guess the only success the song can get is moderate, and more promo won't change that..  - that was all I meant

I think we can get a sense when a singles sales are "said and done" for the most part.

We'll see where Applause ends up when that time comes.

I'm happy with Applause sales so far. It has been pretty steady since its debut and I rather have that than a single that has huge first week sales and then drops quickly.

Why is Wake Me Up being played on Tripple A and Alternative radio formats?

The song combines EDM and folk, and he's a new artist to listeners (not some pop girl hipsters look down on).

it's not the right song, the production is dated

Hold it against me was the second most anticipated single of 2011 after Born This Way. It barely got platinum cert. That doesn't look like a hit to me.

Applause is not a SMASH SUMMER HIT at this point, but it's doing pretty well.

And also the song is amazing.

We need a year minimum to see what kind of 'hit' a single was imo, so let's have the 'applause is a hit/not a hit/ convo next year.

I don't think they should hurry with the 2nd single tho (that was the mistake with BTW's singles) just leave It for 2-3 weeks and then release or start hyping the 2nd single ... Middle October for the 2nd single is ok I guess . . .

Intercope shouldn't be taking any actions concerning the release of the new single now. For some reason, they personally chose the song about Jeff Koons, Fame IV and nostalgia geeks as the lead single from the album (DON'T GET ME WRONG - I LOVE THE SONG!). After initial difficulties, APPLAUSE seems to be doing OK on the radio, and enjoys moderate but stable rise on her home radio format TOP 40. So they should give it a full go, squeeze all the juice out of the song, wait and see.

Once the song reaches its radio peak - and we can only predict when it happens, no one knows for sure - they can think of the further actions. The song might be still strong on the radio in the mid October, and hyping the 2nd single while APPLAUSE still has some heavy rotation would be stupid and unprofessional. In fact, any successful song is still strong on the radio even when it falling: take a look at the BLURRED LINES. That record will need at least a month to get away from the radio waves.

If APPLAUSE both, reaches its peak and will be falling for some time around late October, then and only then the talks of sending the new song to the radio must be taken seriously. Longevity is what we're aiming with this record, so no hurry.

Dr. Luke & Roar say "hi."

Wait now.

Roar's production is more  generic, than dated.

While there  isn't a song that sounds like Applause on the radio, I believe that the production is more dated than Roar's, but Roar's is way more generic because It sounds like another song, and has the beat of another song that was big hit on the radio (Ho Hey) etc...

And I never said that Applause is not a hit, so please stop OK ?

HIAM is not tho :ohwell:

Let's hope for better with the 2nd and 3rd singles

No, for most of Europe we need to see how it does on Spotify and radio for another month or two. Many places she's still increasing on both, and you're freaking out over itunes (which is a smaller part of their market).
