We live in a world where 200K the first week is bad. If you look at the songs that have been major hits this year you will see that they all started slow and caught on. Did Blurred Lines start off at 400k, I think not. Besides that point 200k just isn't a bad sales figure, it's not mind blowing or record breaking, but it's respectable. Long story short, calm those tits.

First of all, her sales in America are always less impressive than elsewhere in the world. Need I remind you all that she's #1 on iTunes in over 50 countries right now?

Secondly, why are you all surprised it's not done as well as Roar? Roar is basically Katy Perry's BTW: a self-empowerment anthem with a catchy chorus. Applause, on the other hand, isn't remotely relatable for anyone who isn't a popstar. It is relying solely on production and melodies, which, let's face it, aren't exactly groundbreaking or as "big" as Bad Romance or Poker Face. Don't get me wrong, I think Applause is a wonderful song, but it should be no surprise that Katy Perry is faring better.

She is flopping hard WW. Now #1 in only 32 countries. 90% are irrelevant, and u need like 20 copies to be #1.

I'm sorry, but I can't say that I'm surprised. Most of the people buying the single are probably fans. Once all the fans buy the song I can see it slowly sliding down iTunes. I don't even think a majority of the public knows she has a new song out yet. And I hate to be the one to say it, but "Applause" really isn't that good of a song. It sounds pretty generic other than her vocals. It doesn't have the spark that "Bad Romance" or "Pokerface" had. Even if the song does pick up in sales after the VMA's, it still was a weak lead single choice.

When I was saying she lost most of her power in the USA everyone was like "I cant wait for the next single

To come out so I can prove you wrong"

Like I said before, her huge hype is gone.

But oh well still Applause >>> roar :nails:

That's a complete exaggeration, in places like Japan, Austraila, UK, France and Germany you need around 50k to be #2 or 3, she could easily be doing 200k around the rest of the world. France Uk and Germany are considered to be in the top 5 music industries.

Why didn't they count pre-orders?  If you pre-ordered the album Itunes still charged you for Applause!

Let's face it she will never make another single like Poker face or Bad Romance...

Applause is good, give it a chance, the promo did not start
