The main reason why Applause is not topping Roar on US iTunes is because Katy is doing much better on the radio. She got an entire day of payola (Monday) whereas Gaga only got half of Monday. This is likely due to the fact the leak messed things up. Gaga wasn't able to get as much payola on Monday because it was already set for Katy, and being they are on the same label, they could not sacrifice much of Katy's payola esp with Blurred Lines still dominating. Hearing the song is what makes the GP go buy it on iTunes - and it comes down to the fact you don't hear Applause as much on the radio! Katy still has the top banner on US iTunes, this will most likely be given to Gaga sometime later in the week or on Monday the 19th. The 19th is still being seen as the proper release. Gaga will get a full day of payola, have an interview on the most watched morning show, and premiere her video then too. Applause already has a lead on Roar on Youtube. The official audio has surpassed Roar's lyric video and Gaga will continue to surpass it with her own lyric video being released in a few hours. That will continue to help Billboard and her iTunes positions. So even if Gaga falls this week on iTunes - don't worry! Applause has not gotten it's proper planned release yet.
