That doesn't mean the original idea couldn't have been scrapped. They've been working on this album since 1 month after Born This Way's release. While BTW slayed me and will always be one of my fav albums, APPLAUSE is a nice breath of fresh air. Sometimes we have to be reminded why we fell in love with an artist in the first place.
