Alexandre 88
I don't actually follow charts or know what all the pages of numbers mean, so maybe I shouldn't be in this thread at all....but...Is it really bad to be #2??? Or even #20?When you see a movie you really love, do you run home and obsess how that movie charts against other movies? When you read a book you love, do you track it on the New York Times best seller list for popularity?Do you know whether Beethoven or Mozart performances sold more orchestra tickets in 2013?Do you know whether Picaso or Warhol paintings have sold for the most money?I don't mean to be judgmental if charts are like your sporting event or something. I don't watch sports either, so it's just not in my nature for me to want to love something based on how much it crushes something that someone else loves. :hehe:I'm happy to see Gaga do well, and the occasion #1 is a nice little treat I guess, but since she pushes REAL boundaries I don't expect her to be REAL popular. I just like to see her make enough money to keep going and do amazing performances and videos!I'll leave the thread now. I was just hoping to offer a little perspective for those who seem so down over anything less than #1. Bless this post :gaga:
Sara 1,143
Charts are brycake's SuperbowlWell, okay, that makes sense in a way. I've seen grown men cry when their team loses a superbowl, and it does me no good to point out that it's just a game, or that none of those players are actually from the city printed on their jerseys, or to even be IN the superbowl is an amazing achievement, etc.People love what they love and want it to dominate all else sometimes I guess!!! nick4bty 2,758
Thanks for the post Sara, for some of us, charts are very important. I think they're so interesting, but in times like these, they ruin the experience a bit. Although Applause didn't meet our expectations for the first 2 days, I have hope that it can still be a hit. I think many of us should think like that. Although making fun if its position was fun last night for a bit, I think it's time to start looking at it in a positive way. I agree. I really do think this song will grow on radio and in sales. And streaming will continue to be high, and get even higher. People just have to hear it and get to know it. whiteboi1327 101
With it double charted on singles and albums, it can't be THAT bad here in the US. It's doing great internationally. The US are just being a holes. That's all
PeterPan 0
The VMAs will definitely "boost" pretty much everybody who performs, but depending on what actually goes down, it certainly isn't necessarily a wash. It'll depend on if Gaga can supply another destined-to-be-classic VMA moment. That's a pretty tall order, though. Gagas awards performances are always legendary! A Stan Was Born 670
Doesn't Gags have a radio deal for next week, though? I would assume since its a "DEAL", its still intact, and that stations blasting the song every hour on release day were doing so out of release day excitement. She's performing on GMA, premeiering the video, doing the VMAs, and, like I said, she might even have a radio deal. Even then, if you guys really care about stats, Gaga's audio video recieved more views that Katy's lyric video which has now virtually stalled. Google trends also displays Gaga with more search interest than Katy. Meaning more people are at least showing interest in Gaga. Maybe not enough to buy now, but like I said, I was under the impression her radio deal was still intact. bUt d@ biitch b3st aiinT cum 4 riih. #novembersales #phuckyofave #jerkchicken
