If anything, the whole situation of Gaga being stuck at #2 somehow shows that her core fan base is no longer that formidable in delivering extremely huge opening numbers for her, at least relatively compared before. It seemed everyone thought Gaga will be the one who'd outsell Katy in the opening days, but the exact opposite is happening. And that's something hard to fathom. With BTW, people overestimate fanbase power, because it also had a huge radio deal and a Grammy performance within 3 days. That's why it sold faster in America than UK. Some of the biggest hits don't have great first weeks. That's okay. I don't get why she just didn't move up the video release. This could've all been prevented if she had simply done that one change. She probably already had a deal to debut it on GMA. And she probably couldn't get out of that deal. Just like she probably isnt allowed to perform Applause before the VMAs. She's stuck.
