Except people are saying it is affecting your "bodily systems"

"The crystals she lays at the end are believed to radiate a certain energy that Marina believes interacts with our biochemistry and helps stabilize our mental states as well as induce a natural state of calm."

The promotion of pseudoscience in general as well as alternative medicines is irresponsible and dangerous. The only person getting mad here is you.

The promotion of pharmaceuticals is WAY more dangerous than lying next to a few crystals... you're way overreacting here babe.

I feel like a lot of people are taking this in a very immature manner. Or ignorant manner. She's meditating, for Christ's sake.

Though, I totally get the argument for the crystals. It looks cool, from an 'artistic perspective' or whatever, but I am not for it in the general sense.

Omg did you see that Skype they did together, I thought it was fantastic and they had some very interesting conversations. Not a Deadmau5 fan at all (he disgusts me) but I put up with him for Imogen :)

No offense to any DeadMau5 fans out there, but he comes off as a huge twat to me. As for Imogen, oh man. She's a genius, honestly.

I remember Gaga said that Marina is limitless in the showtudio interview, I think thats a reason for their collaboration. Gaga wants to be limitless as well, she want to be free, truly free. This is beautiful and strange at the same time and I can see why it was used for meditation.

Just hoping this won't be recreated on LM.com

It's amazing how some of you are quick to judge what they don't understand.

She's only practicing a form of meditation, and the sound she's making is most likely a mantra, which is meant to be repeated over and over to expand one's consciousness.

Maybe the nudity wasn't necessary (although Gaga's naked body is a beautiful thing to look at :flutter: ), but I personally don't think there's anything weird about what I just watched.

Couldn't have said it better.

And in fact I'd dare to go further: I would recommend people who suffer from stress related inconveniences to try this before trying opiates, of course after checking with their "real" doctor for health risks that need attention.

Not because it is more likely to work, but because it is less likely to damage them. If one is emotionally exhausted, burnt out or suffering from chronic stress, giving them things that end in -pam (for example) is proven to work... But it is also proven to have severe side effects and serious addiction risks.

If holding a rock is going to help them let go of the stress or emotions that are bothering them, by all f*cking means PLEASE let them hold a rock. Of course they need to visit their "real" doctor to keep a check on things and make sure no immediate health concerns are the matter, but really... Placebo over poison tbh.

(No offence intended to people who use these medications & for whom it works of course. Anything that helps is great!)

Like I said in my original post. The promotion of pseudoscience and alternative medicine in general is what is the problem here. I'm not claiming people are going to fall over dead because they tried meditating with a crystal.

As far as encouraging the use of crystals as a form of therapy I strongly disagree. Spreading misinformation and pseudoscience is not the way to help people. Encourage other activities and even meditation before trying opiates but don't tell them that you have magical crystals.

I'm a long time practitioner of meditation, and it does have real benefits. All the other things, like laying on crystals I'm sure doesn't have any magic power, but I bet it does stimulate your mind and body in new ways with new sensations, and those can have mental benefits of their own.

Gaga is experimenting, pushing boundaries of everything, including her own mind and body! It's a little odd that she would choose to POST that publicly, but if you are going to commit to your performance with everything you are, then why not?

I think it's much safer treating the crystals as a psychosomatic, placebo kind of practice. Though, no shame to anybody if they do genuinely believe in their power.

When people start thinking a crystal is affecting their endocrine and circulatory systems, thyroid, heart and spleen like people claim Amber does it can be a problem.

But the real fear is the promotion of alternative medicines in general. If people believe ****ing crystals are helping their heart and circulatory system what is stopping them from trying other forms of alternative medicines?

Funny thing is, I physically couldn't wear my amber necklace anymore because it actually affected me (I don't actively believe in "stone healing" and the necklace was a gift from a friend, we're both fans of an actress named Amber so that's why I had it) I started to notice when the clip broke and I couldn't wear it for a few days. I had not been feeling well, I took it off for a few days and felt better, put it back on and it got worse again...

I was skeptical at first but edged on by someone who did believe it I took it off things cleared up again.

Wore it again for a meetup with that friend and bam...

So yeah, don't wear it anymore, hadn't actually thought about the entire necklace for years until you brought amber up X-D

This is the problem with everyone criticizing New Age practices. The term New Age has become outdated. It is not respected and not looked highly upon.

Alternative medicines are not the devil and have actually helped a lot of people.  I can give you one example of Acupuncture, which I practice. I know it works because I have helped people with it. How it would be proven is through a series of experiments. But you see, all experiments are limited because the results of based upon Human responses. These are often flawed. Therefore, conducting a true science experiment on acupuncture is next to impossible. Because you CANNOT measure the energy flow in the body.

The most you can do is measure brain waves, which some studies have and it has shown that pain reception areas become less active during acupuncture treatments.

Anyways, I just get a little irked when people try to debunk all alternative therapies and call them pseudoscience. Just because something can't be proven scientifically atm, does not make it false.

You are missing my point entirely. I don't give a **** if someone goes and meditates with a ****ing crystal. It isn't going to help but no one is going to drop dead.

The problem is the promotion of pseudoscience and alternative medicine. The spread of misinformation is dangerous especially when you are dealing with peoples health. If gaga is saying, and she is, that crystals can affect the biochemicals in your body (completely false) then she is implying that crystals have healing properties and that all this alternative medicine is legit and true.

That is dangerous.

If you don't want to continue the conversation then stop replying. I have to go to uni now anyway.
