Mich 397
Hello all! I scanned the site for a similar thread, but alas I did not find anything that was able to answer my question so I decided to post it here. If this is in the wrong section I apologize! Back on track - I've always had a great interest in wanting to test my abilities in the audio remixing department; however, due to the lack of info for Mac users (Macbook Pro, actually) I have no idea which type of program I should begin fiddling around with, much less what "equipment" is necessary to have a good end result. I've tried to do my research, but mainly what I've found so far is that 1) FL Studios is a boss (minus the fact that it doesn't have a specific version for Mac), and 2) so many programs claim to be so top notch that I'm not too sure which to believe. What I would like to be able to do in a months time is create my own instrumentals, alter pre-existing ones, and eventually meld together a remix or even an original. For quite awhile now I've been listening to and admiring many of the great remixes / originals that you all have shared with us here on GGD, I too would love the opportunity to share my love of music with you all as well. Any insight or advice as a beginner is greatly appreciated, thanks all.
Star 4,409
I guess garageband? Most audio remixer are not online right now, bump this thread again in few hours, alright!
Branson 4
Since you're a beginner, and you're looking for a Mac specific program, Garageband would probably be really good for you. However, I really reccomend FL Studio. It's great for beginners and experienced remixers/producers. You can continue using it for a long time. I use it on a PC, though. LukeHakan 13
Be glad you have a Mac so you can eventually use Logic Pro :) RedOne, Calvin Harris, Freemasons, Almighty, Thomas Gold (aka the DJ behind the best Judas remix ever ), Owl City, Above & Beyond, I think Armin too.... just naming off the top of my head some of the biggest guys in the game - all Logic users! As you're getting started, though, GarageBand is probably the best option indeed. Logic Pro X was released one or two weeks ago and it looks much similar to GB, so making the transition should be easier when you go pro :) And regarding what equipment do you need... grab a good pair of monitors and you're more than good to go!
