Plot twist: Burqa is actually a pro-Islam AND pro-Feminism song because the two can, contrary to popular belief, exist at the same time.

I fully trust that Gaga wouldn't alienate an entire fan base (the Muslim community) over a song. Firstly it'd be a terrible business move, secondly it's dangerous career and health-wise, thirdly she has an innate ability to dash any prior conceptions. Burqa could very well be, as has been mentioned before, a song of empowerment that declares the strength in a woman's choice to wear or not to wear the burqa.  A lot of women wear that garb proudly and Gaga knows this. She wouldn't portray it negatively.

Yes, this! You can be a feminist Muslim and you can find wearing the burqa to be an act of liberation. The important part is choice.

Everyone's arguments about Burqa are making me cringe. You're probably right about it being dangerous - that's why she should want to do it. That is the kind of thing GaGa does. She "hits the nerve."

As for it actually being dangerous I don't think it's going to be as big of a problem as you all think. Not only that but the argument against it should be that it might be offensive in a cultural appropriation type way - like when no doubt had that music video with native american head dresses and stuff and got dragged for it. Burqas are part of a culture that GaGa is not a part of. She is going to utilize this symbol to send a message - and I think that might be the most controversial thing of all worldwide. It's not just the religious extremists.

That's kind of different, though. Headdresses are kind of like war medals - wearing one without earning one is hella disrespectful. The burqa doesn't have that same kind of symbolism (although I've already seen people dragging Gaga for wearing burqas).

What if the physical release of ARTPOP doesn't have a single album cover, but instead fan made covers made from the same original album cover are used? They could make 10 different variants to collect.

But, I think that printing money is illegal, so they might not do that. :lolgaga:

hmm okay. I didn't know that! I always thought it was weird that people got so pissed off at that video. I'm just seeing a lot of people on tumblr and stuff complaining about "cultural appropriation" of things that seem completely innocent and non-offensive to me lately. Makes me nervous D:

I hope she will spill some tea on the topic of why this is sooo much later than we thought and if she played the album for her label... did they not like it last year?

no they very much did, her managers/label all hyped it up last summer, but gaga wanted to explore it further im assuming, and then by the time she tore her hip she had no choice but to prolong it around her recovery. but honestly im really glad its coming when it is. i wouldnt want her best work to date to come too soon, she needs to strive for longevity and that can t happen when you release an album every year.

 It's okay, I used to think people complaining about cultural appropriation were extreme "social justice" warriors until I actually saw what it meant and why it could be hurtful. Most people on Tumblr don't really know how to explain concepts and would rather get angry at people. Cultural appropriation is real, but nobody's done a really good job of explaining it. Basically, it's taking something that belongs to another culture and removing its significance. For example, wearing the Native headdress when you haven't earned it is ignoring what it means to the people in Native culture. It also works for religion. If something is sacred in another culture, using it as a fashion item is ignoring the fact that it's important to people. If you're interested, I can send you a very good Tumblr that explains cultural appropriation a lot better.

G.U.Y. (Girl Under You)....That title just screams "single".

I predict that Tea will be the fan favorite, the Scheiße and the Dance In The Dark of ARTPOP.

..or the album will be full of fan favorites because it will rock :)
