I'm not afraid of Katy's single. Blurred Lines is a much bigger competition.

I don't know what to think anymore. BL being performed throws a wrench in everything. Katy releasing soon messes up our predictions. Too much competition, and it'll suck because Gaga won't get much airplay. It'll literally be BL, Applause and Katy's lead playing back to back.

I am. Katy has a bigger support from radios. I'm not afraid regarding the albums, but when it comes to the singles... hmmmm

It's not confirmed and she wouldn't do that ... her team are not stupid ... she will either release before Gaga (atleast 2 weeks) or right after the VMAs with Its boost ...   September may be the month as well but I am not sure If they would miss the VMAs ...

i think katys best strategy is to stay away from VMAs. if she DEBUTS her single LIVE that will be everyones first impression. my guess is that she will be a representer there and announce a single date or something,

Remember that you are unique. Like everyone else.

If not a #1 hit due to BL or Applause, I still sense a 5 million + seller for that song. It's rising super fast. It doesn't even have 5M AI yet :dies:

There isn't a single female in top 10 on radio airplay now. Not even ft.

There is room for both to smash.

exactly

even if Katy had better airplay than Gaga, that doesn't mean Gaga is not going to get airplay period. "Radioactive" and "Get Lucky" are huge right now; does "Blurred Lines" change that?

I agree, but would be interesting if they both had radio deals at the same time (which I doubt will happen).

Well Q4 release = competition. We saw it coming.

That. People, it's not Spring,. 2011. Get it over with, don't be disappointed is she doesn't reach #1. I still think it's possible at some point.

Hope you're right although Gaga overshadowing Katy at the VMAs will be good for ARTPOP

Also, why does everyone act like each of them only have one chance to hit #1 and if one hits it, the other will miss it?

I think most people assume the song will drop quickly (ala BTW).
