Gaga is the queen of debuts, but Katy is the queen of longevity. It'll be interesting to see who comes out on top.

that would be the most interesting and exciting year in the music industry since a long time  :excited2:

:lmao:  :lmao:  :lmao:  :lmao:  people going crazy over Katy's new maths interests, are they foreal thinking that Kett would harm Gaga's purfectly planned era and block her on charts

:awkney:

She had 5 #1s in a row, and then a 3, another 1, and a 2. She's absurdly commercial and appealing to the GP.

Bieber on the other hand? Gurlbye

Katy's last lead single barely crossed 2.5 million. How she performs depends on the song, she's not automatically going to have a 5 million selling multi-week #1 smash.

Why does everyone assume that just because she tied a Michael Jackson record that she's going to have similar success again? MJ's record lasted 23-25 years for a reason. It's extremely rare for that to happen.

Maybe Gaga should remix and discount to get that longevity  :teehee:

Wouldn't be surprised if Katy debuted her single at 69 cents this time around, tbh. They prolly figure there's no point in waiting a month down the road anymore.

Oh I highly doubt she'll be THAT successful again. I also don't consider her to have tied him legitimately because of her cheap remix tactics, but that's besides the point. But I do think people will eat her song up.

EDIT: ok not cheap per se, but definitely playing the game more than MJ did

And MJ created that record during the "Bad" era - yet most people consider "Thriller" to be not only his best era, but one of the best eras ever in the music industry.

It's entirely possible that Katy can emulate, or even surpass, her previous success.

Unless Prism manages to become the biggest selling album in the history of music, and there is zero chance of it doing that, let's not even try making that comparison.

Possible, yes. Likely, absolutely not.

Summertime Sadness is at #16 on iTunes when all versions of all songs are combined, and it's edging closer to #15. I believe this is a new peak for it if I am correct.

Meh, Katy is gonna take so much radio support away from Gaga. Annoying.

If Katy's lead single is produced by Zedd...

But I'm pretty sure Gaga's era is going to have more longevity. As far as we know, there's nothing really controversial on Applause (Unlike BTW/Judas), so that could help Gaga to sustain her success.

I highly doubt Katy will debut the same week as Gaga. She'll be crushed.

Judging by her album release, I expect Katy to release within the next two week. Radio will devour her next single.

This makes me really sad. ****ing Katy, ****ing ruining Gaga's comeback. Radio is going to eat up Katy's single, which could ensure its longevity and really hinder Gaga's single performance.

Why can't Gaga and Katy both do well on radio? :wtf:

And what if Gaga ends up getting the bigger radio hit, which is definitely a possibility?
