16. Burn - Ellie Goulding

I wanted Ellie to smash again soo bad. Right after I heard Burn I thought - man this is the best song of the year.

She deserves it ! So happy for her.

Me too

It will likely fall out of the top 100 fairly quick after it's taken off the front page of iTunes, but just hoping she can make her way back up if radio plays her.

I don't like her voice on any of her songs there is something about the tone that is annoying. It doesn't mean its a bad song but I wonder if she alienates some people with her voice.

Welcome back :)

There are definitely people that find her voice annoying, but I'm suprised there aren't more because her voice is so unique. I'm not complaining lol.

Yeah music the last few months has really sucked and I just cannot get into it. But I'm getting excited to actually talk about Gaga finally, now is when things get interesting! The anticipation, the letdown when Gaga goes left when people expected her to go right, the meltdowns when things don't go the way some people want with singles, the wars about who is the Queen of pop, it's going to be a great time lol

Have I missed anything exciting?

Thanks!

Yeah she can obviously sing so it is good that everyone isn't like me and won't listen to her songs :)

Charts wise? No :awkney:

You can look at the News section for the "exciting" meltdowns

If C'mon and Crazy Kids didn't work, what's the logic in going with another single that sounds just like them? Obviously pop radio and the GP is no longer interested in the "Ke$ha brand." It's time to try something new. I hope that RCA realizes this.

And Last Goodbye very clearly sounds like Ke$ha, so I'm not sure what you're trying to get at. It sounds nothing like Katy Perry or anyone else.

"TOY" and "Warrior" don't sound like "Crazy Kids" and "C'mon". "TOY" is more rock-leaning and "Warrior" is more dance-leaning. And both songs have stronger choruses than "CK" and "C'mon", which is really what matters on pop radio.

At the end of the day, it comes down to audience. Ke$ha's target audience? Teenage girls. Teenage girls like fun, uptempo pop/dance songs. And Ke$ha's bestselling songs, singles and non-singles, are almost always the ones where she raps. Deviating from what she's known for could possibly expand her audience, but it could also eliminate the one she already has. And when you have an album sell as badly as Warrior, it's not smart to take risks like that.

Plus, Ke$ha isn't exactly respected enough to reinvent herself as a balladeer, nor is she successful enough at the moment that people would take notice if she did (like Gaga with "Yoü and I").

Last Goodbye could broaden Ke$ha's audience though. TOY and/or Warrior would just leave her in the same boat she's been sinking in. And I really don't want to see her sink any further.

So happy for Ellie climbing the iTunes charts! Hopefully radio backs her and it does better than Anything Can Happen

I agree, it's very breathy. and I can definitely see a lot of people being turned off by her. I don't think I could listen to more than a few of her songs in a row before becoming extremely annoyed.

But I think Burn is a good pop song, and I'd like to see her climb up the charts again.
