US Charts Discussion (Gaga single tracking: August)

I mean, if we look at it in another way, we could say that's she's sold 15M albums since 2010, which is the usual time that an artist spends making a new album (3 yrs.). But either way, it's still a bit disappointing.

Agreed. Despite her overall sales, no matter how grandeur it may sound, it's really disappointing to see that without her digital songs sales, she's arguably nothing. And honestly, the more I see the ratio of her album sales and digital song sales, the more I'm proud and happy for Gaga and Britney in a way, at least in that aspect.  :hehe:

You do know we're talking about a indie rap song about lgbt rights in which its first lines are:

"When I was in the 3rd grade

I thought that I was gay"

right?

"No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I'm on the right track baby, I was born to survive." plowed it's way straight to number one.  It broke the record for debut spin count and was close to Britney's record for highest digital debut.

Macklemore is one of the hottest, if not the hottest, debut act of 2013.  If anyone can make a song like Same Love a hit, it's him.

What type of blatant Girl Gone Wild ripoff

Not when both are rip-offs of Queen Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want To Have Fun"...

I think I'm the only one who doesn't find Macklemore hot. :emma:

Anyway, I can't believe how close we are to discuss Gaga's chart performance. Only about 2 months, which feels like only some days compared to the wait since August last year when she announced the name of the album. I'm hoping for at least 4 top10 singles in the US/UK/EU/Japan, and about 5-6 million sales for the album by the end of the year. Maybe I am too optimistic?

2 days until Miley's single. SO EXCITED! :excited::miley:

Macklemore is without a doubt the most prominent act who finally hit the mainstream this 2013. In the same vein on how Rihanna became a constant chart-topper in 2007, Katy Perry rose in 2008, Gaga skyrocketed in 2009, Justin Bieber took 2010 by storm, Adele conquered the world in 2011, and Carly Rae Jepsen surprised 2012. Every year, relatively new acts seem to take that spotlight - which is nothing but beneficial for the industry and for music fans as well. It offers diversity and excitement.

So, they just recently released a new video for one of the tracks of Strange Clouds, the 2012 album of B.o.B. I thought B.o.B is set to release his upcoming third studio album, Underground Luxury, this summer? I guess either they just wanted a video for Chandelier or they'd re-use it for the next album.

Nonetheless, Chandelier sounds really good. I would have no problem for a full-blown promotion of it.

I actually have second thoughts on those ones, whether it should be Ke$ha or PSY respectively. But Justin Bieber released Baby in 2010 and held the most viewed music video for quite a long time since then. Carly Rae Jepsen, on the other hand, secured the longest-running HOT 100 #1 of 2012. I strongly believe they were the ones who made the loudest noise in the music scene in those respective years, as relatively new acts.
