Acquiring Gaga Promo Items: It’s not stealing, it’s preserving – a tutorial by mpwmcfly

So you’re strolling through your local music, movie, or book store and you see the coolest promo poster, standup, *insert other promos here* ever and you’re like kjefbkwrbfkfbkj

I. HAVE. TO. HAVE. IT.

Your next step should be talking to an employee about it. A lot of times when trying to get Gaga stuff I’ve been wearing a Gaga shirt so it helps if they know you’re a fan right off the bat.

Try to get an employee who doesn’t look like they hate their life. Someone who’s roaming the store and not busy behind a counter is probably will probably give you a better shot too.

Greet them with a smile on your face and introduce yourself as a fan. Tell them you’re a collector of that kind of stuff and politely ask them for it.

If the person is not a manager they’ll likely consult one. I’ve generally found that the managers are the ones that hate their lives so this might be where you run into a brick wall. Kindly expain your situation to the manager.

This could go a few ways ways:

• “No.â€
  

1. Say “Okay thanksâ€, maybe browse for a few minutes, and leave.
   

• Go home, weep deeply, and try to drown the thought of it being compressed at a waste facility in your tears
  

• Get in touch with your dark side by watching movies such as Kill Bill and Star Wars, return to the store at a later date, browse for a few minutes, study the placement and size of the item to find out the best means for it’s extraction, browse for a few more minutes, snatch the b---h, and walk out
  

1. I can’t help you if you get arrested. Good luck!
   

• “Sure I’ll put your name and phone number on it and you can pick it up when the promo period is over†This means they’ll most likely give it to you.
  

1. Grab a bag of popcorn and enjoy classic movies such as Back to the Future and Pulp Fiction while you wait for a call
   

• They call you to come pick it up. SUCCESS!
  

• They never contact you, you eat so much pop corn and watch so many movies that you become morbidly obese, and die a lonely soul having never acquired the item
  

• “Yesâ€
  

1. Grab it, strip naked, and run out singing your favorite song off Bionic song really loudly
   

a. Get arrested for public nudity

b.

1. Politely thank them and leave with the item

when i used to work at hot topic we had the cardboard cut out from the fame monster cd of Lady Gaga, i asked for it as soon as i saw that we were getting it. and thank god i did because several people were asking for it after it was put out on display for her cd. some people were even offering me money for it.

advertisments on paper,

store displays made of cardboard

window clings

signs

special giveaways that you had to be at the store to get when they sold the product, etc.

things that were destined to be thrown away by the store or company.

*Update on my Terry Richardson stand* I still have no idea if they'll ever contact me but it's still in the store so we'll see. I'm going to have to break it down if I get it. I don't have anywhere to put it. lol.

I did this with my huge Gaga Costco display, it's better to talk to the manager in person

and you can break it down gently, i broke down a 5 foot by 4 foot by 4 foot Lion King Walmart Display a few months back.

I shot a video of myself breaking it all down so I can re-watch when I want to re-assemble it.

Even though you might be getting the TerryGaga Book Display, go in the store and take loads of pics *anyway* just in case sh*t happens and you don't get it, also if you do, the photos you took make an excellent provenance piece for the display, as you can see it in it's natural habitat.
