I'm surprised the thread title didn't say DRAGS SELENA or some shi.t. She really is quite pleasant about everything she says. So she has opinions, Come and Get It is quite crude, even if it sounds like heaven. That's literally what she said. Y'all are the ones with poles up your asses.

She has got a very good point though, in s-xuality being the main selling point for most pop stars, including Selena. The song isn't empowering for female s-xuality, but rather suggests that women are just a tool for men to "come and get whenever they're ready."

This.

It's like everyone in this thread just read the title and didn't even bother with what she actually said. Lorde is an incredibly talented and mature girl, and you guys seem very well aware of that and come across as just pressed by the fact she's spilling some tea about your faves.

Um, and on a strictly personal level, I think that at the end of the day, she'll mean a lot more to music than Selena, or other girls that she reportedly "shaded". Just sayin'. :nails:

It's a very interesting marketing scheme, but it's quite brilliant. Everything about her screams "fuq da mainstream". The majority of the people that would buy her album are people that "h8 da mainstreeeem", so by her dissing dah mainstreeeeeem (from things I've heard, people don't view Lana is indi/alternative/fuqdamainstreem anymore), she's appealing to these people.

Also, negativity speaks louder.

My only issue with all this is that her feminist critiques are always on songs that are such non-issues. Commenting on a song like Blurred Lines would definitely help with what she's trying to do. Come and Get It not so much. Isn't one of the things about feminism helping empower women to explore whatever s-xuality they feel most comfortable with without shame? If this is how Selena chooses to be viewed in her s-x/romantic life is that not her own free choice to make?

I agree. While I think Lorde has a good point on how women are perceived and portrayed through entertainment, Come and Get It is an odd choice to criticise. There are far more scandalous songs (such as Blurred Lines) which degrade women far more than this song.

I believe she just touches the surface of this subject, feminism that is.

It isn't that black and white as she seems to take..

When she hit the core, all that she believes in will come back and bite her in the @$$.

Being a feminist does not mean you cannot seduce a man when you like it.

More over, really think we should have a one thread where all of her disses

complied into one. "Lorde Diss" or something like that.

She seems to base a lot of her opinions on whether something is feminist or not. :laughga:

I'm sure that most of the time she doesn't even know what she talks about though :laughga:

She's also pissing off a LOT of fanbases though. Azealia Banks is learning a lesson about talking too much **** about other artists the hard way.

But the general public don't care, and this alternative demographic she's aiming at will love her. It's all about her market.
