Quark 7,098
o=(0_0)=o In your opinion, who made electronic dance music popular in the late 2000s? Who is the person that truly made it mainstream? That person that after releasing a song or an album, everyone else wanted to change their musical direction to electronic dance?
ThisGuyTony 31,024
I think it was Britney with Blackout. I didn't really follow music until 2009 so I don't know.

Gaga is Life 101
I voted for Gaga. And from what I know, I think it is.

Molly Aphrodite 241
Britney Spears hands down. She made it a must-have in pop music. Blackout is 100% what made dance-pop/electro music the booming genre of the decade. The Black Eyed Peas and Gaga followed after. But obviously Gaga is going to win this poll because this is a Gaga fan site and everyone here thinks she started every single trend.
Stephen 30,431
I think Gaga & the Black Eyed Peas. Britney helped too.

Introvert 0
anyone saying britney's blackout is misinformed, thanks to gay guys on pop forums. blackout was one of britneys best for sure but it wasnt influential. the entire album is very urban and almost sounds like it was produced by timbaland because some of his right hand men helped produce it (but not actually tim himself). it was a variation of the timbaland riddled mainstream pop landscape the year it was released and the year following. and circus was just a totally watered down neutered version of that 2 years later. Quark 7,098
While these artists may have had dance hits way back in the 90s or early 2000s, they didn't really made electronic music mainstream, because I you may know, most of the 2000s were dominated by urban, hip hop, and R&B music. It wasn't until late 2000s when electronic music really became mainstream. At least here in the U.S. and in most parts of the world Cher with Believe. Madonna in 98... Economy 50,127
This is rediculous... there were many influences and you cant give credit to 1 single artist for starting it Britney, Madonna with 4 minutes, Cascada, black eyed peas all came with some dancy and electronic type songs at around the same time Gaga enforced it the most afterwards by helping to solidify it in mainstream... but i dont give Gaga credit either cause radio was going that direction before Gaga came out and probably still would of became mainstream without Gaga!
