fun is an indie maroon 5

the black keys were arguably the best band nominated that night

but then there were bands like grizzly bear, tame impala, japandroids, passion pit that released better lp's that were still pop enough to get recognized but sadly just didnt sell that many albums.

Fun. is far from indie, they are soo pop. and if you want to compare them to Maroon 5, the difference is that Adam Levine cant sing.

You know whats wrong with the black keys and everyone you just mentioned? They are unoriginal.

Take Coldplay, Radiohead, and Nirvana's discography and these band are just rearranging their work, its pathetic.

ok you're just talking out your ass now

the black keys sound nothing like radiohead, coldplay, or nirvana

their sound is blues/garage rock similar to classic rock bands. idek where you got that comparisons from or if you're just trying to bring up bands that are more original, because even then coldplay is just as unoriginal.

and indie isn't a music genre, it means independent label, they were on a few independent labels in the beginning and then moved to a major label which got we are young on that superbowl commercial.

My ass? If you can't handle the facts then you best stop right there. What do you think Coldplay was doing in 2000-2005? What the black keys are doing today, its old and unoriginal.

Oh and I forgot to add the Cranberries to the list, you go on and pretend these new bands that are popular now are original but you are just fooling yourself, everything they did was already done in the 90s in the U.S, Canada, UK, and Ireland mainstream and underground alike. The last original movement in rock music was the heavy metal influence on mainstream rock in the late 90s all the way to the early 2000s as the "emo" bands came into play with their pop/punk sound. That is it. Ever since then rock went back to its alternative sound new wave/blues thanks to Coldplay's huge mainstream success in the early 2000s and forward.

When you said indie, I thought you meant alternative since they are often used the same and you were comparing them to Maroon 5. and to the point, why does it matter if they are indie or not and were nominated? It doesn't, they had success either way last year.

what is this?

i never said the back keys were original, i just disagreed with what you said about fun and said the black keys were the best band that won, which say a lot.

i don't know if you misinterpreted what i said but i know the history of alternative rock, tyvm.

anyhow the black keys still sound nothing like coldplay. idk why you bring that up, coldplay is just a rehash of radiohead but more boring. the black keys is a blues-rock band similar to the early 2000's rock revival; the "the" bands; strokes, white stripes, vines, hives. with a led zeppelin classic rock sound.

but that doesn't mean their arent bands today making interesting music even if they're inspired by past sounds. it's still more innovating then the banjos mumford and sons and the lumineers this faux-hipster folk-rock trend right now.

Coldplay is just one example, the prime example since they were the most successful in that time. Their current sound is completely different from their earlier work. Radiohead and Coldplay don't sound the same, if you think they do then you know nothing about alternative rock.

The Black Keys do sound like Coldplay's earlier work, I am not talking one song, one single, their entire albums are full of Coldplay sounds and arrangements, among the other bands I listed.

LMAO, that was a joke since they work in the same genre. Coldplay is just humble, they call themselves the **** version of radiohead, they are their idol, get a life please.

Why are you on Coldplay's diq? Get off it, its just one band of the many I listed and there are better examples. Why don't you concentrate on the obvious ones that show what a completely fake and unoriginal band the black keys are? Led Zeppelin? White Stripes? The Heartbreakers? Tom Petty? Your argument is going no where.

You lost your argument a long time ago, then you were going about talking bs about the Grammys when you are here trying to defend rolling stone magazine for their opinions for the same reasons. Quite hypocritical Forest Gump, stuck in an orange box?

Even if it is #100, I think it's great it is include in this list, the album have only 5 years. Just Dance and PokerFace are easily one of the most epic pop songs of the 21th century.

And for Madonna she must be include in this list too, Holiday, Lucky Star and Borderline are part of this album and those songs are legendary.

Once again, Gaga and Madonna are the two pop stars represent in a rock/indie/hard rock ocean list.
