I mean they explained that after the photo with the price tag was posted, which seems suspicious. They could have mentioned how they offered her an almost identical piece but they didn’t say anything until the photo was posted. And honestly their responses and recent posts have been quite passive-aggressive for a business that’s trying to claim they aren’t rude to customers.

Well what exactly would you prefer their response be to this situation created by a spoiled celebrity?

watching a video of it in motion, it's sooo cool. Bring back more mechanical automation, bring back cuckoo clocks

This though. I've been on a nostalgia run with old phones and stuff, and we need to bring back creativity like this:

You know, I originally thought that the truth was somewhere in the middle of the two stories, but once I saw the price tag next to it that clearly said $15,000 and she was wanting to purchase that piece for the price that THEY put next to it, but they refused her, I realized that she was totally right. The store's explanation makes zero sense.

They posed the question "but was it for sale" in their explanation AND THEN NEVER ANSWERED THE QUESTION. There was a $15,000 price tag next to it. When there is a price tag on something in a store, it's for sale. Plain and simple.

She was wrong, she said they treated her like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, but in reality they treated her like a regular customer, because their customers don't buy items costing thousands of dollars, they offered her a less expensive item because that's what they had in stock, not becuase they thought she couldn't afford it.

This story is really odd. The store can say whatever they like but it doesn't change the fact that Kelly said it had a price tag. That means it was for sale. As someone who worked in a gift shop, when we had a teddy that wasn't for sale, we displayed a NFS sign beside it and if people still asked about it, we said it wasn't for sale. Whatever that employee told her, it wasn't clear or they were loath to part ways with it. And, as evidenced by the bird now going up in "price," there was always a "price" to begin with. It's rule #1 of customer service - never tell a customer that they can't buy something that is for sale or assume what their economic status is. It's as if the store didn't think that Kelly would tell the whole truth or something. Clearly, their heads have been inflated by the interest in their business so they think they can put the price up to generate more headlines about them. So I don't buy that they're highly suffering because of the negative attention on them.

There was a phrase I've never seen! All I could think of was "make cuckoo clocks great again!"

I watched the mini  press conference video that one of the owners of the store had and he is insufferable. The entire vibe is condescension and weighing every single word he says to attempt to maximum character assassination on Kelly, while also trying to milk maximum sympathy. He starts the entire thing by drawing attention to stitches on his face and then immediately tells everyone he had cancer. Sorry to that man but his medical history is wholly irrelevant to this matter and it’s so transparent he’s only bringing it up for sympathy. He tried to casually say “I can even let it go that she shouldn’t have shouted at my shopkeeper, I let that go”. But he of course doesn’t let it go by bringing it up at a press conference. The entire speech is so disgustingly passive aggressive if anyone wasn’t there on Kelly’s side before  (I already was) this pathetic display should convince anyone.

clearly it wasn't because why would a shop turn down a 15k sale? as someone else said, that price tag image wasn't for the bird directly

mother, what must i do?
