Some of this discourse comes down to people that had no idea where Palestine even was three years ago and now believe they are the be all and end all of advocacy because they put a watermelon symbol on their social media. 3. Honest to god just do something yourself rather than relying on celebrities. It’s tiring because this whole thing has ended up a social media performative mess. I’m not saying Gaga shouldn’t say something - she should - but my god, it’s ended up with people counting Instagram likes rather than doing anything practical. I can only be of use in the UK but if you’re looking for pro-Palestine advocacy just drop me a message and I’ll pass on anything I know about future protests & demonstrations. How does standing up for human life qualify as "anti-semitism"? You can't call people who are against Netanyahu's actions against Gazans "anti-Semitic", but then silently sit there saying nothing about the clear attempt at genocide and Netanyahu's attack on Islams. Would you say that the people supporting Netanyahu and the destruction of Palestine and killing are anti-Islamic or islamophobic? I rarely hear the people against Netanyahu calling his supporters islamophobic, but around every turn, every corner, every little thing said opposing his genocide is called "anti-semitism", it's getting old. And also let's be honest, truly anti-semitic people wouldn't be standing up for Gazans, for Islamic people, anti-semitic people are majority white supremacists, they hate everyone except white people. lasagna 3,471
i wont lie ive been very disappointed that she hasnt spoken out about palestine, but the reality is a zionist would not platform a palestinian voice in any shape or form, so that's something

Idk, this is becoming a bit messy. The melody that you choose can rescue you
palma 8,911
To be fair up until Oct 7 I thought Israeli society was split 50/50 on Palestine and I wouldn’t think appearing there or calling the people nice would be considered endorsing Zionism at all (coming from a Muslim family, being from the Middle East) so I think her being called names online was quite performative. This is nice to see, and I would like to see more. I am not a big fan of “detached popstars should not talk about world issues” idea. Artists should speak up and platform people whenever they are able. Yet, in all honesty her being an upper middle class white woman from Manhattan would probably mean she’d need to learn and unlearn a lot of stuff before making any big speeches so I get why she’s silent. Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

Him being Palestinian isn’t remotely to do with it, id have said it about any activist that uses her name and platform to promote themselves but then sh*ts on her responding in a Stan Twitter argument. But looking at his responses anyway someone already disagreed with him in the same way and he just called them racist and a Zionist. Which isn’t mutually exclusive, he’s not above criticism.

gagzus 24,941
Well at least we know it wasn’t him personally, but he should get rid of whatever random person also has access to the account. Because they aren’t helping his cause by accusing her of Zionism, arguing with her fans and calling them all racists for replying to whoever made the hypocritical reply in the first place
