It's really weird how much power Israel have in the US. To the point of a stadium owner gets bother by a statement that has nothing to do with religion or  Jews but what a state and vile politics are doing to Palestinians, and go and get others to do same.

What saddens me is that they won, the guy was removed.

So much to freely express your opinion on people suffering everyday that literally can't do nothing about their oppressors or make their voices heard.

I don't give a damn about Ed, but truly appreciated Pink...

Anyways great post from Macklemore.

Well, this was a turn-up for the books. This sets a very scary precedent for the future of touring if venues can deny you the right to perform based on your political beliefs. Right now, it's voicing them that's the issue. What if it gets to the point where the venue owners just knowing what your beliefs are is enough to get you banned? There already are venues worldwide who have banned performers based on their image, lyrics or beliefs but has this ever happened in the USA? Well, certainly not in 2026. There's every chance this could cause a snowball effect and soon the only people who will be allowed to be perform will be artists who never speak their mind through their songs or public statements. The world is getting more like Black Mirror everyday.

Couldn't care less about his music but he's handled this situation with the utmost respect, clarity, intelligence and class. Good for him! People in the future will remember him as being on the right side of history.

Censorship. Not everything is a friggin' attack on being Jewish. It's so out of hand how anything that doesn't support Netanyahu is considered an assault against an entire religion and group of people. People have too much brain rot to decipher what actual anti-Semitism is versus having an opinion against genocide. It's like they're doing everything in their power to further motivate and prove the conspiracists who think the Jewish elite run Hollywood correct.

This is exactly what I've been talking about! These people can't understand what real anti-Semitism is (ie, the Holocaust) versus a simple statement made against the actions of a vile war criminal.

So who is in the wrong?

Obviously everyone but Maclamore :ladyhaha: Idk if I were Ed, i'd be like I'm taking my fans to a venue that supports the greater good instead of modern day N*zis and domestic abusers.

Laughable to see Robert Kraft, who solicited sex from massage workers, as taking the moral high ground.

And as others have said, this isn't about antisemitism, or there would be similar actions taken against Kanye.

Does Ed actually have much of a say here?

of course he has, if he actually had balls he would stand with Macklemore, do not perform without him, and if the shows are cancelled by the venue owners, then point the fingers directly at the people responsible that fans can blame for it, but he's a coward.

Ed Sheeran's statement:

I am appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The suffering and pain caused on both sides is a human tragedy. There are too many wars across the world causing immeasurable pain, none of which should be tolerated.

Macklemore asked to join my tour last year and I agreed, because I respect him as an artist.

As with all my support acts, I agree that they play a setlist of their choosing.

After Macklemore's performances at my New Jersey shows, venues on my upcoming tour dates communicated that they would pull the shows if he was still supporting. I was informed that this stance was based on how Macklemore conveyed part of his message during his performance, rather than on everything that was said. I spoke with the venues at length all week to try and build a bridge. One of those people was Robert Kraft. I was also involved in direct talks with promoters along with activists on both sides to try and find a mutual resolution for all, but the venue's and promoter's decision was final.

Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter's decision, it was not mine. Macklemore's contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me.

I would never let down the fans who had made plans, nor would I abandon the touring crew and the other support acts and musicians who rely on me for work and to make a living.

I have always used my platform and music to bring people from all backgrounds and cultures together and this won't ever change. Those who have been to one of my shows will know that they are about unity, joy, escapism, love, and a place for everyone to feel welcome.

I am not complicit. I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn't mean I don't have them, and it doesn't mean I don't care. Nor does it mean I don't support causes in my own, personal way.

There is a reason I do not use my professional platform for politics - my audience includes young people, often children, of all backgrounds. Those who come to my shows do not expect a political forum. I respect Macklemore's strength of purpose to stand up and shout for what he believes. However, there is room for multiple approaches to the same end: peace. I choose to use my fame and platform to be a place of safety and sanctuary, to maintain diplomacy and keep conversations open, not closed. If we only focus on shouting the loudest, nothing will ever change. There are different approaches to being an advocate for change.

I have spent this week trying to build bridges, to find a solution and unfortunately, was unable to do so. I know who I am, both as a person and as an artist, and those who know my heart know my values too.

Bunch of nothing. The ONLY point where I would be like “ok I see his point” is that cancelling would put a ton of crew people out of a job. But tbh, Ed Sheeran has a 400-500m net worth. He could have paid his crew what they were promised out of his own pocket to compensate for the loss of work. Would have been the best way to stand up to these stadiums and not screw over his employees. Fans would also get a refund.
