ThisGuyTony 35,335 Posted yesterday at 07:12 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:12 PM “Around 150 cinemas and IMAX theatres across the country staged screenings to largely empty auditoriums. At one showing in Leeds, no tickets were sold at all, while in Coventry just two die-hard fans turned up. In Milton Keynes, an IMAX screening attracted just 17 people and a second screening brought in ten fans. Just 17 fans bought tickets across two screenings in Edinburgh, and even in London's Leicester Square, the flagship Vue cinema sold just 42 tickets out of 201, taking £881.58. It is a spectacular fall for Perry whose 2010 album, Teenage Dream, equalled Michael Jackson's record of scoring five US No 1s from a single album.” https://www.dailymail.com/tvshowbiz/article-16126327/amp/Katy-Perrys-cinema-blockbuster-UK-box-office.html 1 32 2

Bronco 27,697 Posted yesterday at 07:20 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:20 PM It is wild to me that the Ghost concert film outsold her when you consider her peak vs Ghost's peak on the UK charts. The gays know how to party 1
gagzus 24,871 Posted yesterday at 07:21 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:21 PM At what point do we stop classifying her as a MPG? Since she’s not bounced back in over a decade really.

Idk even in her lowest points Gaga managed to at least pull a hit per era out of her albums, sell out venues and even had the power to make a jazz album go #1. Katy’s had like 3 back to back albums without definable hits, abhorrent sales and relies on performing songs from 13+ years ago live atp. To me she’s become the Cyndi Lauper to Gaga’a Madonna. skaxboy 7,073 Posted yesterday at 07:34 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:34 PM It’s off to the Khia Asylum for a…..LIFETIME I wanted to go to the actual show because I love big pop concerts. I would’ve liked to have seen this in theaters but I didn’t know it came out or maybe the showtimes were cancelled.
Lucas 31,514 Posted yesterday at 07:37 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:37 PM (edited) I knew her career was in a very bad state but this is tragic... I always said, Teenage Dream wasn't successful because of Katy Pery herself, it was successful because of the brilliant producers, writers, stylists etc... That's why once this team was gone, she started having the biggest downfall of any main pop girl. And she has never evolved throughout her career, she really should, because Harleys In Hawaii is the most unique song in her discography and it also happens to be her most successful song of the past 10 years maybe? She needs to stop with the childish cheap pop and take a more mature direction. Edited yesterday at 07:39 PM by Lucas 5

She needs to stop with the childish cheap pop and take a more mature direction. Lbr it was simply she had catchy pop songs and because of monoculture she was highly visible. But she never created enough of a loyal fan following. So once monoculture died and attention split between mediums she wasn’t interesting enough for people to search for her music instead of just being fed it by culture. A lot of popstars suffered once algorithms and attention became split. Thats why people like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Gaga etc all have had other endeavours like makeup, movies and fashion. Branding helps them survive and keeps their names in other mediums and in culture. Katy hasn’t done any of that, she has no other business endeavours (at least none that have been successful) she’s never acted, done theatre, made a brand or anything. So everyone’s reference to her is the old music, and now she sold her masters—they’re pushing her old music hard because the new music just isn’t interesting (her weak fandom can’t even give her good sales on their own). Taylor Swift is the only outlier to the brand thing, BUT that’s because she re-recorded her biggest albums and singles and introduced them to a new generation. Something Katy could’ve done if she’d been smart. Edited yesterday at 07:50 PM by gagzus
