Lady Gaga has made her career with songs like Just Dance, Pokerface, Bad Romance and Born This Way. This songs defiened her early image. Which singles from ARTPOP, Joanne, Chromatica and MAYHEM would have worked best in the phase from 2008 till 2011 and brought her also to the top?

I think that Rain On Me and Abracadabra have worked also in 2008, 2009 and 2010/11 and brought her global superstar status.

Which singles from 2013 till 2025 do you think are hits that would have worked to establish her?

The Cure had so much potential even in 2017. It was a perfect song for that time and even without promo it did very well on the radio

I'm honest i haven't thought about The Cure, because in my mind i only count songs as singles which have a video, oldschool. I like The Cure, i don't know if it had the potential to be career-defined.

Abracadabra would’ve smashed if it was a single taking Judas’ place.

Vanish Into You replacing The Edge of Glory.

Disease on The Fame Monster or Born This Way, even as ARTPOP lead single instead of Applause.

Garden of Eden along with Just Dance, Poker Face, Lovegame and Paparazzi. Imagine The Fame with those 5.

The forgotten JD replacing the other JD…

Jewels n Drugs instead of Just Dance would have smashed. Imagine.

It’s Not really her song but Hair Body Face would have been a big Hit on The Fame.

Abracadabra even could replace Bad Romance and be the ultimate Gaga song. Even in smaller size.

I'm curious how Disease would have charted if it had been on The Fame Monster or Born This Way - i have the feeling that the song is too special and hard to be a big hit.

But I'm sure that Rain On Me could replace Just Dance or LoveGame and would have been big. Especially Just Dance could be replaced by ROM, as it is also cheerful and carefree. Rain On Me is just smoother, Just Dance more infectious.

Abracadabra , Vanish, and Shadow of a Man, at least.

Nothing from ARTPOP, Joanne, and Chromatica. The pink albums were their own missions for an established artist, none of them really has that kind of breakout hit.

Mayhem on the other hand felt like she was trying to give something to everyone and several of the songs had that “breakout hit” quality.

Abra obviously, but honestly I think Garden would’ve been a HIT if she released it in 2011.

Rain on Me would’ve worked too because it’s very Daft Punk in some of it’s production.

I remember when it came out. It was probably when I thought she was going to make an R&B album and then we got the Pop songs on ASIB that are basically R&B/Soul songs and I still LONG for a full album of that sound.

The Cure was the perfect blend of R&B that was becoming huge in the run-up to the 2020s and the choppy House trend of the mid 2010s in Europe. It was the first time my non-Gaga fan friends actually liked a Gaga song since her early albums :poot:

For as much love as The Cure got when it debuted, it somehow became one of her most forgotten songs! At the time, it even gave her a radio hit in places where Million Reasons didn’t reach.

Meanwhile in 2026, Million Reasons is now in the billion club, and The Cure is not even to 500 million streams. The Cure’s daily streams are an even smaller fraction of what MR’s are.
