Smother Em Eh 7,287
She releases her debut album, The Fame in 2008, then the dark follow up, TFM in 2009. At the 2010 VMA’s, she announces the new of her new album, BTW and sings the chorus like she did at the 2010 VMA’s. Born This Way is released in May 2011! Here is what CHANGES, She releases Chromatica in 2013. I like this better, as it isn’t as in your face and all over the place as ARTPOP and still makes the GP like her. As she releases something a little less “LOUD” so it’s easier for the GP to digest! CTC is released in 2014, as well and she goes on a lil tour as she did. ARTPOP came way too early in her career! By releasing Chromatica in 2013, it gives the GP something better to digest especially after the backlash she was getting in BTW era. So I LOVE this. No Applause vs. Roar feud, no collab with R Kelly and no SXSW or any other performance or event that would totally turn GP off and make them sick of her. So she releases CTC and does a lil tour with Tony, really getting the GP on her side. In 2016, Joanne is released but it’s more cohesive & consistent so no songs like DIC on it. ASIB movie in 2018, she gets that OSCAR. Making the GP really get on her side! More jazz with the only and Tony Bennett by releasing L4S in early 2021 for another little mini era and tour in mid 2021. Making GP really think fondly of her and really see “The girl behind the Aura” and that she does have talent and substance! Next after Joker is released in 2023 instead of 2024, she releases the wonderful project, Harlequin. It has a lil mini era of its own too! After that is over, it is announced in August of 2023 that she is releasing Mayhem in Nov. That is released and then she goes on a well critically acclaimed WORLD TOUR! After a few year hiatus, is it announced in May of 2026, that she is releasing an album called, ARTPOP. It was recorded in 2021- 2025! The promo pic of her with the Venus wig and the glasses are shown! Everyone is HYPED! She releases it in October of 2026 and it is totally different from anything done before. A DIVERSE album even more than BTW & ARTPOP! The album is 16 tracks with 2 bonus tracks! And it is a VISUAL album! It’s Electro with Synthwave, Retrowave, Dreamwave, DreamPop and Cyberpunk influences also with some songs having a futuristic kinda sound like Venus! And in this Era, it is a true celebration of her career! She does similar things that she did during ARTPOP, by presenting herself in different styles that she rocked throughout her career and referencing the Andy Warhol thing a lot in interviews! It’s an album and era that is a celebration of her career that has came 18 years into her career! Giving her so many past album/ eras to reference and visualize somewhere in her work of that area! candydarling 1,996
honestly ARTPOP wouldve probably been more appreciated if released today

That tastes have changed? Or that the bar is lower?
Madame Goo Goo 4,143
I have actually had this same exact thought - weirdly enough, both albums would have been received better in an alt universe where they just got swapped with each other. Of course, Chromatica wouldn’t exist without the preceding years that influenced its lyrics, but still, very interesting to think about. I love the concept of DIC being scrapped from Joanne, as well. I think I’d keep everything the same, honestly, just do ARTPOP in 2020 and Chromatica in 2013. EDIT: Or ARTPOP in 2019, the same way Chromatica should have been released in 2019 when she was repeaking from ASIB and had an album fully ready to be released and could have avoided COVID that way. I think they finished recording Chromatica in like 2018 right? She sat on it for so long and then even had to delay it, so it makes sense why she didn’t seem super into the era for most of it. NUTELLA 29,156
Chromatica still would have been boring & poorly-received in 2013 But regardless, her “bubble” was going to burst after BTW, no matter what she did next She had become too big by that point After such a steep, meteoric rise... a fall was inevitable The follow-up album, no matter what it was (ARTPOP or Chromatica) would've been a disappointment

LGAte 1,052
But this didn't happen and we're okay with that. Also, Chromatica is literally a reaction to post-ARTPOP in many ways so it probably never would have been an album without what happened during the ARTPOP era. 2

Exactly... everything had to happen in the exact order it did for us to hear the music she made
