Love the song !

I'm glad she's back to something that seems to be more entertaining and fun than her previous record. I'm here for her to be in her Gaga / Britney / Madonna influenced dance pop era :firega:

I'm 100% sure it will tank hard in charts but as long as the album is good, I'll take it

Who'd have thought Miley would be the most interesting disney child turned pop star

The bar is not high tbh. I don’t know anybody who thought Jonas Brothers, Selena or Demi would become some groundbreaking, exciting musicians after seeing them on Disney channel :billie:

I usually compare Miley to her disney peers, but even if we include Britney and people from her era of disney I don't find Miley the most interesting. She's the jack of all trades master of none, she jumps from sound to sound but she is never on the forefront unlike Britney who actually has her footprint in pop music. There is a sound that you associate with Britney and there was an era when music labels tried to make their own versions of Britney, unlike Miley who once again in her *blank* era. We saw hip-hop Miley, country Miley, rock Miley, disco Miley and now this dance pop diva Miley but it's always "it sounds like someone else" with her and never "she brought something fresh, new or unique into the genre she jumped in".

This also shows a lack of authenticity. You thought Bangers Miley was the real Miley – no, turns out just a few years later she said she doesn't listen to hip-hop because all hip-hop songs are apparently about materialistic things and sex. You thought PH Miley was the real Miley – turns out she hates a half of the album. And when you don’t have a clear sense of who the artist really is and what makes them unique and authentic you start to think is she really that interesting of an artist or she just records whatever her label sends to her when it’s time to make another album.

I always forget that Britney was a child star and not just a teen/young adult that got a lucky break.

Matter of fact, she was one of the artists that MJ was trying to warn way back in 1999/2000. And then again after her breakdown. He told her to retire for her mental health 'cause fame will take everything and she'd end up like him :bradley:

Anyway, yeah, Miley's pretty cool :lolly:

The higher, louder synths kinda ruin the song imo. It makes it sound dated. Immediately made me think of this, around 1:30:

A great throwback sound but I would have preferred a cleaner bass driven sound for "Bass Persuades" :lolly:

It is a very interesting rebrand. I thought she would lean into the rock chick more from the album teaser, but this is OK too.

Britney is a living legend and one of the greatest pop stars of all time she was untouchable . No one will  ever come  close to her at her prime except Gaga .

a lot of artists tried to copy her and failed even the new girlies .

Absolutely a legend.

But she was never interesting. She's just the most successful record label factory act.

Ok I listened finally and maybe it’ll grow on me, but I thought it was boring 🤷🏻‍♀️

Both the song and the video sort of made me think of Dua Lipa more than Miley, but I really like it. It still has to grow on me a bit more, but I'm excited for this era.

Fun song! Great video and I love the references.

Interesting to see her doing this Madonna-esque spoken word bit. Not sure she has the best voice for spoken word, honestly, but it's a fun song. Excited to see what she has up her sleeve for the rest of the album.

It's a bit experimental in some ways but still very pop. It's like a mashup between Can't Be Tamed and Handstand (from ESV).
