Can a nepo baby “success” like Stella Lefty sustain a career

People often conflate Nepo Babies with having connections and privilege. I don’t know anything about this person, but unless her family are involved in the music industry, she by definition isn’t a nepo baby.

Liza Minelli for instance was a nepo baby. Because her nepotism from her mother as a well established musician, actress and connections in the music industry — actively helped her in the exact same industries. Often nepotism only applies to the same industry, such as actors who’s parents were actors, musicians who’s parents were musicians.

Not really if your parent was say in tech and you became a musician, because otherwise Gaga would be by definition a nepo baby.

for my answer, it depends.  some nepo babies can have careers, but like @gagzus said, typically only if it's in the same industry.

technically, ilia is a nepo baby because both of his parents (roman skorniakov and tatyana malinina) are very successful figure skaters that made it to the olympics twice.  yes, he has the skill and the talent, but he was technically born into it.

everyone keeps saying "oh, he's back, he's back!" but the truth is i never left!

But if it’s forced down people’s throats enough with playlisting, autoplay, and someone is given public “legitimacy” with mainstream award show recognition, is that all it takes to actually get people to believe they like it?

Sadly yes.

Even though time might sort the wheat from the chaff. Human heard instinct goes to pair with individual lack of thinking for themselves. The ultimate goal of ads and medias is to enslave the last of our braincells. And it scores.

but it's not new tbh

Miley, Drew Barrymore, Angelina Jolie, Lilly Allen, even Norah Jones, Jamie Lee Curtis are nepo babies and it's only a few I had in my mind.

The amount of actors and artists who were discovered by their talent and not by the families is very little after all.

I mean, tbf, a lot of the people you mentioned are at least talented and weren’t entirely astroturfed by their parents lol

We have forgotten our public MANNERS

yeeeaahhh but their talent is not born, it's earned imo, and they had enough money to study in the best schools with the best teachers and lived in the perfect environment at home.

Sadly yes. She can build a notoriety on her fake hit, get known by masses this way and later have songs they'll like for real. :ladyhaha:

Tbh even if some of them are talented... They're not more talented than thousands of drama schools kids we'll never hear about. :laughga:

I don't personally believe that nepotism can carry you through an entire career in entertainment. Get your foot in the door? 100%. Its a great tool for getting started.

But the only nepo babies that have survived longterm in music or film are people who're actually good at whatever thing they've chosen to take on. The people who got in the door but weren't good once they were in the room fizzled out over time.

That's why I don't necessarily have as big of a problem with nepo babies in entertainment as I do with nepo babies in the world of business (where I find the practice to be a lot more damaging and problematic), and I say that as someone who themselves works in entertainment and is not a nepo baby.

In the end, the people who aren't good usually don't go very far with a few exceptions.

Time will tell with Stella. It's really too soon to know which direction she's going to go in.

It’s a combination of both natural and earned

But you can’t win an Oscar’s with only your natural traits, there are still many skills to earn and work on to sharp your natural traits.

diva, the definition of talent is literally "a natural skill or ability to be good at something, especially without being taught"

you can earn a skill but talent is something you are born with

sure lol, let’s focus on the absolute definition of “talent” from the dictionary and not think through and expand it further because we can’t have a normal discussion here without calling names..

Only a few born with the ability to act straight away, the rest are born with certain traits that makes it easy to sharp their skills for acting, but they still can’t work as actors.

It’s still earned by hard work and skills but they simply have an advantage.

And you can argue that nepo babies “talent” is coming from their daily environment around actors, so they learn to act by observing their parents.

If we really stick to the definition, only Anna Paquin fits it, since she never studied acting and got her Oscar's at age of 11.
