PartySick 173,853
Didn't we settle this? Prohibition doesn't work, prohibition towards harmless culture decisions is offensive, disagreeing with that simply makes you wrong, anti-Arab/Muslim sentiments persist in Europe and the US like a disease and entertaining ideas like a ban on a freaking head dress makes you just as culpable in it. This changes my perspective quite a bit. The "Hijab" verse: "Let them draw their veils over their chests, and not reveal their ˹hidden˺ adornments, except what normally appears" Men and women in Pre-Islam Arabia had veils on their head or neck because of harsh desert environment. You can even see Mother Mary and men during Jesus time having them. So the Quran is telling women to lower their veil to their chests for general modesty, so the purpose is covering the chest, not the hair! You can see how there is no specific rules, its a general order for modesty as the verse says expect what normally appears, which is the opposite of what Muslim women do today going out of their way to cover every inch of hair and body. And lastly, this verse was talking about a specific event when Muslim women were being sexually harassed as a minority. In Islam we have something called "Urf", which means to follow local customs as a basis for legal rulings and daily life, aslong as it does not break Islamic rules. Because the prophet knows the future Muslims around the world shouldnt live like the ancient world of Arabian desert. Sorry for the long detailed response lol Edited Friday at 08:50 PM by faysalaaa 2
GagaisHotAF 459
I mean they have their reasons, especially in Europe, and it was voted by their parliment. Why are Americans always trying to change other country’s laws? No wonder they don’t like us in their countries because we can’t respect their laws or customs. Probably on Grindr

If they don’t they can vote them out. It is not the end of the world. They shouldn’t force their religion on people and possibly jeopardize national security. They don’t have to wear their burqas, it is a choice. Religious people do way too much.  They have their own needs and concerns. We Americans need to realize that not every country is like ours. They have their own needs and customs and if they feel okay with this ban, then so be it. Probably on Grindr

I love that you've come into a thread, where a lot of the commentators are European and you're complaining about American superiority complexes among the people debating this without any sense of irony. The gays know how to party 1
