AMC CEO Warns Scalped Movie Tickets For DUNE 3 & Avengers Doomsday Will be Canceled

AMC’s CEO Adam Aron is warning ticket scalpers that their purchases will be canceled.

He posted on his X account on Wednesday (August 19) along with a follow-up on Friday to share his thoughts on people scalping tickets.

The announcement comes the same week that tickets for Dune: Part Three have gone on sale, with many fans rushing to buy seats at IMAX 70mm theaters before they sell out.

He continued, “We have cross functional teams actively reviewing how best we can do something to put the brakes on these wannabe ticket brokers.”

He followed up to say that scalpers will be monitoring eBay and other websites and will do their best to cancel tickets and close Stubs accounts of suspected scalpers.

“It is a violation of our ticketing teams to scalp AMC tickets,” he added.

IMHO because people will only go to cinema for IMAX now, or else it's not worth it. And those IMAX screens are still rare.

Depends. If the seller using their A-List membership, yes they can. Otherwise, they will have to pretend buying and ask which locations and seat is it ig

This feels like such an American problem because I’ve noticed online Americans will flood cinemas and some people can’t get tickets for showings for weeks.

Meanwhile I’ve been able to almost always just buy a ticket the day of release for most major films, even for Marvel movies. For legit £4.99 at a major UK cinema brand.
