By the 2030s, could be the US values NATO more than they value a proxy state/military base in the Middle East. Then what do they have? Damn near every nation and group from Northern Africa to Southern Europe and as far East as the Himalayas ready to pounce? A lot of Western Europe has allegiances to Isreal because of political relationships over the years. Nobody will intervene against them whatsoever unless they actively sent ground forces to start a war into a European country. That’s the only reason anyone will ever stop them. Mostly out of a fear of world war, that’s the general rule, avoid world wars at all cost. But Israel clearly wants to wipe out any Muslim centric country. Even if they took over Palestine we wouldn’t intervene. Hypothetically they could take over every country in the Middle East and Africa and we wouldn’t care until it expanded into Europe or larger Asia. Basically we don’t respond until wars are started on first world country superpowers like Western Europe, North America, China or Russia. It was the same in WW2, we knew to some degree what the Nazis were doing in Germany, but we didn’t act until they moved ground troops into Poland. Because that’s the general rule at the UN, they ONLY consider action if you send in ground forces. It’s how most nations get away with wars, because they’re primarily fought through bombings. It’s a loophole. Edited 2 hours ago by gagzus

I fear for this world. Trump cannot unilaterally pull the US out of NATO, it would require approval by 2/3 of the senate which will never happen.

Obviously not something he can do unilaterally, but he basically says, “if they don’t have our backs, we don’t need to have theirs” (and he’s floated trying to get the US out of NATO multiple times since the beginning of this term) Edited 1 hour ago by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS

Instead of leaving the alliance, he will likely just refuse to abide by its treaty terms then. It's interesting that he is choosing to do this as Israel has attacked units from a NATO country. It makes you think... he/him/his

Yeah I think they vastly overestimate AIPAC’s ability to land a candidate bc atp Israel is part of the alt right conspiracy pipeline and once you’re there you’re cooked in U.S. politics
