Maybe because most new releases aren’t interesting? I mean, the only album I’m waiting for is ADÉLA’s debut, and some other albums I’ve found interest in were CII, MFF and that’s kinda it.

I’ve been discovering songs that I had never heard before, and without knowing that they were old (I wasn’t checking the year they were released in), and yet they hit much more than newer stuff, so it’s defo not nostalgia. There’s something in the production and composition of newer releases that make them sound lacking and plain.

Tbh most of chart-topping and GP friendly songs are not interesting. Last year we had Ordinary on top of the charts and even though last year was pretty lackluster for pop music we still had new hits. This year it feels like people just don’t care for new releases despite many big artists dropping this year like Harry Styles, Bruno, Ariana, Olivia, Drake. It’s really fascinating how many "came and went" albums we have this year.
