That’s because people have a very limited view of Pop music on the forum. Taylor Swift was inspired by synthpop like this from the 80s.

Eh, I grew up listening to 80s synthpop and Yaz specifically and, aside from a similar arpeggiated synth, I think HBDUWM pretty clearly has more in common compositionally with Swift + 2010s synthpop revival than it does with 80s synth pop like Yaz or Eurythmics.

I get that but I think people give Taylor FAR too much credit, especially when Gaga was probably the artist who else the way for the 80s Synthpop revival 3 years beforehand with Born This Way.

I knew the song before this, I just didn't think about it until it started playing and I was like wait...

There’s also another version that became famous, I think it was featured on some tv show

I know style is different, but it's similar to "Don't Call Tonight," maybe with similar chords. I think it has some similarities.
