The concept of watching your boss (famous for screwing people over) sneak away onto a different plane because there’s concern your plane will get shot out of the sky and being told to stay put. I know that plane ride was SILENT. :icant:

I truly don't understand why "secret service makes president avoid potential attack" is such big news

I think a major reason is because it was on his new fancy plane that he shouldn’t have accepted and was not up to the security standards needed to transport the POTUS through risky airspace. Unnecessary challenges of his own doing.

I mean this is the angle people are trying to run.
But the argument about the Qatari gifted Airforce 1 is that 1) it needed serious retrofitting which has been carried out to be usable & 2) the Airforce 1 model it replaced was in perfectly good working order and upto security spec.

Because of that, this news story isn't relevant to that specific debate. Because they used both the original Airforce 1 and the Qatari gifted Airforce 1 as decoys in this security operation & flew Trump to the UK airbase they refueled at on a seperate third military plane.

This is just standard shell game stuff by the secret service. There's a reason why there's multiple models of "The Beast" limosine in the same motorcade & why there's always multiple Marine 1 models in the air at the same time.

There's been plenty of times the old Airforce 1 plane was used as a decoy while the President was sent via alternatives for every President since it's creation.  The only oddity (although its not odd in the context of Trump2) is that the Press Corp were unaware of the basic details of the plan.
