Foldable iPhone leaked in iOS 27 beta; Fall 2026

Of the six models, V68 — the identifier mapped to the iPhone Ultra — is the most closely watched. It arrived in this beta alongside the continued presence of dual-battery management code that iOS 27 Beta 4 introduced three weeks earlier, on July 20.

That Beta 4 discovery was technically specific: new Battery Health strings referenced "the batteries in this iPhone" in the plural — language that has never appeared in any iPhone software, because every current iPhone uses a single cell. The code also pointed to two separate cells with capacities from supply chain filings of 1,921 milliamp-hours on the hinge side and 2,962 milliamp-hours on the display-dominant half, combining to roughly 4,883 milliamp-hours total.

The dual-cell arrangement is not a design preference — it is an engineering requirement.

Beta 5 adds V68 alongside the five standard-chassis identifiers, tying the foldable's battery management into the same driver that now handles the entire lineup. Together, the two betas describe the iPhone Ultra's fundamental architecture from the inside out: iOS knows the physical fold state (introduced in Beta 1), knows the hinge angle (also Beta 1), expects multiple connected displays, and manages two separate battery cells with individual health tracking.

Maybe the next one tho, I heard this first one only have 2 cameras. For the price they will be sold in, cos you'll know it will be $2K++++ range, I need the moon and the stars

it's a shame they decided to go for the square route design instead of the cool old flip phone vibe, it'd be an instant buy for me

I am sorta unsure on these. I am not a fan of the majority of the designs so far, but the only foldable I would probably use would be the design that seems to have leaked.
I read ebooks a lot but don’t really enjoy the experience on my phone or iPad. Otherwise, I would be more likely to go smaller form factor like iPhone 4s than a foldable. I don’t even use the iPad enough to justify the “two devices in one” narrative people try to sell me on lol.

if it can actually fold consistently without looking a damn mess or breaking maybe they finally have a leg up on samsung but i'll believe it when i see it

Why are we… suddenly going back to basically flip phones  you can buy a flip phone outright for like 10x less than an iPhone.
