I have to give it to ARTPOP...You have the Koons ball, the bright colors, trippy art direction, Venus De Milo in the background, and Gaga as a living sculpture giving birth to art...

It truly encompasses the concept of the album better than her other ones that simply look like cool photoshoot shots

my favourite is this Mayhem picture disc vinyl 👁️👄👁️

it’s weird, suggestive, abstract and chaotic all at once, and the way she spins on the record player is just :legend:🫨

You should probably take it out of that plastic. I heard that it’s not good long term.

ARTPOP without any hesitation even though all her covers are great and convey her message in a clever way one way or another.

ARTPOP. Because the album is chaotic and explosive and contains many different elements. It's a piece of art. That's what the cover shows

Chromatica is close because it represents the sound of the music very well, and the (mostly abandoned) world she created for the album, but the lyrics don't really match

I could argue that Joanne works because that woman on the cover could definitely be the character in every one of those songs

The rest are all really great too but in terms of matching concept they're a bit neither here nor there

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Perfect for the message she is trying to convey (having reached fame but now it is not all it's cracked up to be... she is seeing the ugly side of celebrity, etc... much like a bad wig reveals itself to be bad once you're up-close with it, the non-existent hairline/part glaringly obvious lol)

It is very much a "Halloween store" wig (again, intentionally) but yes I think it's great for the record

I think I've always preferred the blonde one because that's the artwork I saw first, though (also because the front-facing posture & the severe jacket are just so great)

I always assumed they used this cover for the deluxe, because the fame era having those low blunt bangs and this was their way of incorporating the fame into the artwork since you’re getting both albums

Imma say ARTPOP

it's bold, it's colorful, there is so much happening (like on the record itself), she also put art pieces together in the background

and also Gaga herself looks kinda like a sculpture here, just look at her hair - almost like if it was carved out, like an actual statue. She's turned herself into a work of art and slapped it onto a pop record :koons:

it's maximalism at its finest and i will not tolerate any slander against it

everyone keeps saying "oh, he's back, he's back!" but the truth is i never left!

Speaking of the ARTPOP cover - have we ever had a real explanation on why the white star on the right is there? Cause — lmao

All her cover arts are good but I think TFM as it has that image of covering the face adding mystery and spookiness and the mascara tear representing how fame can destroy you. For the most part, I don't think any of the arts really represent the sound exactly but her earlier albums, moreso. The aim always seems to be creating a good/pretty picture and she seems to prioritise putting herself on the cover. It would be interesting to see her do something totally different where she goes for something totally different. It's interesting that Chromatica is the only album where we've had a full body shot, apart from ARTPOP which doesn't really count because that's a statue really.

the pvc mayhem comes with has a matte finish so it’s actually not as bad as the usual wet/ sticky pvc. :ohwell: nevertheless I have re-sleeved all my picture discs in cardboard jackets with extra anti-static pocket- except the one i posted cos i love that freaky artwork :gaycat:

So disgusting , look like a big old busted butthole

Anyways, the fame is great imo .

and Joanne is good for this topic as well.

i think all her album covers are good for their respective albums EXCEPT for mayhem, and it’s god awful

edit: also thank you @Cherry Blues, you just inspired my latest thread xoxox
